Here's another university orchestra having a go at "The Stripper". This time The University of York, with a gutsy rendition of the Bob Lowden arrangement.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5Q4EvYj5Eo Here's the West Bergholt Concert Band with the same (slightly out of) tune... http://www.wbcb.org.uk/Mp3/19.11.05/...Track%2016.mp3 ...and for completion here's the Houston Pride band making a bit of a hash of the same tune. Better drum break in the middle, though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Cg2EmuBpIY Last edited by Stroking_it; June 24th, 2017 at 04:34 PM.. |

Looks interesting, although it's a shame it's more about modern music than traditional. But there are some absolute classics in there too, which is good. Will be worth a listen I'm sure

Right I have listened to this and I have to say it was a complete waste of time. You only hear vague snippets of the tunes but this would have worked better as a late-night television programme. Speaking in all honesty it was total rubbish and I cannot understand why BBC Radio4 even commissioned this let alone why it done in the first place. I will leave you to judge for yourself but personally I wouldn't bother listening. None of the better known burlesque dancers were featured so you will be disappointed if you were expecting Dita von Teese or the Brit Modesty Blaise.
I will say one thing more, you cannot possibly strip, off to of all things, sirens!! but someone does. |

Adding to the collection of versions of "The Stripper", I have procured a copy of Ted Heath Orchestra "Those Were The Days" on CD. The version on that album is dirty as all hell and very worth a listen!

Possible that this has already been posted, for which I'm sorry for the repeat.
But DAMN! What an awesome track! Tombstone Blues by Ronnie Magri https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk5Sqv2Irc8 |
