vef instability
Sorry, I couldn't see a thread on this already. Also presumably mods. already know about it? But maybe useful for other users?
Earlier today (~12 hours ago) the vef site was inaccessible for about a couple of hours (may have been more, just from when I started). Times very approx. as I didn't think to make precise measures. When it later "returned" I found it somewhat unstable--albeit only in minor ways. I'm not complaining, I'm simply reporting, in case there's anything not already recognised. Examples: 1) a few times now I've tried to send a PM & encountered the 60-second timeout warning/block. OK, I know that behaviour, but today, several times, I've encountered that when I have not previous sent a PM anywhere near inside that time frame. 2) Several times I've deleted a PM from my mailbox only to get an error warning that I don't have access to the PM, or that it can't be found... yet refreshing the browser window/returning to a mailbox I find the PM has been correctly deleted. 3) I was editing one of my posts (in an index thread) & when I tried to save the changes got the error warning that I didn't have access privileges to it. Refreshing showed the post in pre-edited form, so I was then able to re-edit & save. As I said, these are all minor issues. Nothing serious like data loss, etc., just slightly disconcerting. Update
So now 9/10 of one of my index posts has been "eaten" as I was editing it. It's possible it was my fault, but I really don't think I cut a whole chunk of the post away before saving it. Instead I think vef "lost" the lower part of my post from just adjacent to where I was editing. I think there is an instability to vef, and it might cause problems to others' posts, so for now I'd be wary of any edits in case they go awry.
Edit: & just making this update post nearly 3 hours after the one above, I get a vef warning about not posting to the same thread inside a 5 minute threshold. Last edited by effCup; July 19th, 2013 at 03:06 PM.. Reason: further fault |

VEF and other sites were down due to a server problem and that is probably the reason for the glitches we are getting now.

I replied in an ID thread one hour ago, but the section overview does not currently show this.
EDIT: Now it's updated, there has been another reply in the thread.

Thanks retro, that reminds me: I could delete PMs but the mailbox total (count) sometimes would not update, despite the window having refreshed.

Also having problems with private messages. But the issues I have are already listed. But I guess it's just piling on at this point.
I'll live through it I suppose.
