I have met Polanski on two seperate occasions and I still consider him to be an outstanding film director. I don't know what's he's like today, but considering all the shit he went through at one point in his life, he is/was a very nice guy.

What he did with Samantha Gailey was obviously very wrong, especially by present day standards, but it was far from unusual in those times. That's partly the reason why so many members of the Hollywood elite helped him to leave the country.

These kind of ongoing American witchhunts simply become ridiculous in the end, especially after half a lifetime has passed. You'd think he was a Nazi war criminal or something. And let me add that who in their right mind would want to return to any part of the US to face a legal system where justice is virtually out of control and you might end up with a truly apalling sentence?

As I recall, Ms Gailey had no problems with Polanski and was very happy to meet him again. A more sensible approach clearly wouldn't go amiss in this instance. Time to let things go I'd say.

Part of Roman Polanski's problem I would say is that he did not face the music at the time. It would have been in the past now if he had faced up to it then; but his status as a fugitive from justice is in the present and will never go away unless he faces up to it and returns to California to accept the verdict and judgment of the court. The Academy would not have much of a case for banning him now over something which happened in 1977 if he had served his time. Probably they would have banned him then and re-instated him decades ago after he had left prison and worked to rehabilitate himself, and any move to ban him again would probably be dismissed as double bubble.

Running away was his decision and now he must suck it up.

Does anyone give that dickwad any actual intelligence notes before he opens his mouth or does he just say what he thinks his intended audience want to hear, I firmly suspect the latter.

"that in London, which has unbelievably tough gun laws, a once very prestigious hospital right in the middle is like a war zone for horrible stabbing wounds".

I suspect the ignorant pompadoured twat has never actually been near a war zone except under massive security details.

I cannot wait to see what the numbnut says when he actually comes over here

http://theweek.com/speedreads/630379...ofed-geography

"Man shot inside Paris police station. Just announced that terror threat is at highest level. Germany is a total mess-big crime. GET SMART!"

Get Smart indeed you air-headed NRA glove puppet
Mr Trump is deluded. Nothing can help him because he doesn't want to be helped. He has a pre-set narrative and will never cease to search for justification for this narrative. He needs Britain and Germany to be in a state of crisis with rampant violence and crime because if we are not, his narrative is threatened. Our societies must not be functioning with gun control more peacefully than the USA functions with uncontrolled gun ownership because this undermines the central NRA case that guns make people safer. The truth must conform with the narrative because the narrative cannot be wrong.

One thing I've noticed this week is a lack of reports on the Brit tv/radio news about the findings of the group of people who went to Syria to investigate the 'chemical attack'...

"that group of people"? You mean the OPCW investigators? I suspect a lot depends on whether or not the Russians allow them access to the site where the attack actually took place. I also suspect they know very well that there will be serious obfuscation, distrataction and misdirection involved. The chemical bit is easy, dealing with the politics in a war zone, not so much.

Perhaps they haven't said anything yet? Maybe they need to be allowed to do their job first before being expected to have "findings"?

You are quite correct the OPCW team arrived in Damascus, and after a week, they were given permission to visit the sites, the UN naturally sent in a fully marked up convoy to do a threat report, at the first site, they were met by a large protest, and despite the heavy presence of Russian Military Police, it was made obvious that no support would be coming from that direction, the convoy leader made the decision that the OPCW team would be under serious threat, at the second site, the marked UN convoy came under heavy small arms fire, the decision made was obviously the same.

OPCW have managed to get people on the ground, but they report a great deal of 'sanitation work' has been done in the area.

I expect our Russian contributors will attack this post, I just remind everyone of two things, firstly the Russians have not retaliated, either militarily or diplomatically to the strikes, and secondly the Russians have gone very very quiet on the subject of Salisbury. The exception being the ridiculous claim about the 'D Notice'. One of the most secret documents ever issued by the British Government, which of course they would forward to the Russian Embassy.

What a savagely backward nation

India girl, 16, burnt alive after Jharkhand rape
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-44016176

It's really hard to get to grips with India on one hand it wants to embrace progress and is keen to attract Western money and on the other it is held back by retarded religious zealots of all kinds.

The authorities, such as they are, appear unable to get a grip on these fundamental religious bastards. Almost every day we hear of some truly savage attacks, underneath all that Bollywood bollocks the country is a backward cesspit of corruption and fanaticism.

As consumers we will always have the right to choose what we buy and I will research where possible to find out where things are made.
I always try to avoid buying Chinese because of their treatment of humans and animals. It's not always easy but it is our right as consumers
