I think it's more because English is the closest thing we have to a universal language. In all my travels all over the globe I've always found people who speak at least enough of an approximation of English for us to be able to communicate.

You read me wrong -- I was making fun of America, not AUS

But AUS is fair game in this thread. I mean, I really did wonder if they knew something from the archives that I didn't. And when one of them spoke to me in German at the end of the interview, I knew he wasn't going anywhere with it, but it made me think, because that guy was an ethnic Indian
