From BBC text page:
"Radiohead have released the song they recorded to be the theme for the latest James Bond film, Spectre.

The band have revealed that they were asked to write a signature tune for the movie but it "didn't work out" and the song was not used. Sam Smith's 'Writing's on the Wall' ended up as the movie's theme song instead. Radiohead have now made their brooding, orchestral song, titled 'Spectre', available as a free download on Soundcloud."

Interesting to see The World's Greatest Spy Movies last night on Channel Four. James Bond ended up at No5(this is a list of films chosen by real life spies or people in the spy industry) with the No.1 film being...'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' citing the 1979 BBC television series with the great Sir Alec Guinness and the 2012 film reboot with Gary Oldman. They said it was the most true-to-life film about spying. James Bond was completely far-fetched - how can a secret agent always be 'expected' by the enemy AND recognised by hotels around the world?? Incidentally the spies chose SKYFALL as their best Bond film.

Of course Bond is far fetched..no public servant, however elevated the rank, would ever get a budget that would cover the expenses he racks up...

As these programmes go, I thought that was pretty good. Expected Argo to finish higher, though.

Interesting SPECTRE has been completely overlooked by BAFTA this time, I wonder if A.M.P.A.S.(Oscars) will follow suit-looks like 007 has scored 000 this time around, despite all the praise and box-office records it broke around the world-it's a funny old world ain't it!

An Aston Martin from Spectre has sold tonight at auction for £2.4m amongst other memorabilia at Christies' auction house. All proceeds go to charities.

The location for an underground car park chase, that featured in 'The World Is Not Enough' was filmed at Brent Cross Shopping Centre in Hendon, North London(which was supposed to be in Germany). Today it is 40 years old having opened in 1976 and I went there as part of a school field trip some years later. You will recall the chase in that car park was instigated by Pierce Brosnan's Bond, controlling his car with the mobile or cell phone that Q gave him. I remember it had a few signs up telling the public that there might be explosions heard and if you see the sequence with the rocket-firing BMW you can understand why it would have disturbed people.

The new Aston-Martin DB11 goes on general release this week and it's a snip if you have £150,000 to spare.

And finally it is Happy Birthday to current James Bond actor, Daniel Craig who is 48 today, and we hope will play Bond for one last time in the new film which is due to start filming soon.

I have to announce the sad death of production designer, Sir Ken Adam at 95. He had a hell of a life. His designs for the James Bond films were just amazing. A German Jew whose family along with him fled Germany and he eventually joined the RAF. My favourite sets were the Goldfinger & The Spy Who Loved Me especially the Lotus Esprit that turned into a submarine-brilliant even by today's standards but the Submarine silo, which was the 007 sound stage converted and later became 'The Albert R Broccoli 007 Stage' is also a stand out set. He also designed the car for 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' RIP Sir Ken, your legacy will live on forever on the big screen.

Also George Martin passed away just prior to Ken Adam.

Sir George not only wrote the score for Live And Let Die, but was producer on the title tracks for Live And Let Die and Goldfinger.

Interesting story told by George Martin. He was invited out to meet Harry Saltzman when the film Live and Let Die was being made. He said to George that he had some ideas of who could sing the main tune and mentioned Aretha Franklin amongst others. However, Sir George argued that Paul McCartney was the one he wanted to do the song. Something tells me that the song, had it been done by anyone else, just wouldn't be the same as we know today.

That story is quite incredible. George Martin said to Saltzman that Paul McCartney had written the theme song. Saltzman asks who is going to sing it. George Martin says - We've Got Paul McCartney!

I don't think he could believe they had even asked who the singer would be.
