During the opening of the 2018 Golden Globe Awards programme, host Seth Meyers toyed with the idea of a possible Oprah Winfrey presidential campaign. When Winfrey took the stage later that night, the speech she gave was no joke.

There are reports emerging in the US that she is actively entertaining the notion.

And her speech sounded an awful lot like a presidential candidate on the campaign stump - polished and effective.

According to the Telegraph newspaper, bookmakers PaddyPower has put Oprah Winfrey at 10/1 to win the 2020 election – equal to other Democratic front-runners such as Joe Biden, the former vice president, and Elizabeth Warren, the Massachusetts senator. Ladbrokes cut their odds for Winfrey to 33/1.

I really hope Oprah Winfrey ignore the siren voices...it will take more than one good speech to run a country

I have little doubt that Oprah would be a serious threat to win should she choose to run. I also believe she would do a better job than many of our current crop of political hacks and would perform far better than the current occupant of the White House.

Maybe Jesus will show up and straighten our butts out. We humans can't seem to get it together.

If Oprah stands I'd be surprised if anyone was able to say anything remotely not positive about her or criticise her in any way without being villified for being a racist and a misogynist so she's liable to be elected almost by default.

There are two Americas: Ms Winfrey would only be able to win votes in the "progressive" America. I think Mr Trump would defeat her if she ran. She'd be a better candidate/opponent than Mrs Clinton was, but so would an average pet dog.

Oprah has some unique beliefs when it comes to religion, I don't think those with traditional Christian beliefs, especially southern Christians, would support her.

But i doubt Mr Trump would want to run for a 2nd term, as i think he's not too happy to be president.
