Finally can play last week. In "La Graiera", 9 end holes. A good day (good weather, not so good play )

Yesterday I could play again. Have you ever played golf in the sun and 34 º C in the shade?...

Golf Sant Joan (the only public course in Catalunya)

Ah! and when in Interlaken, i don't play due the short time i had, but i went to the course to know him. I found a beautiful course, but perhaps too flat for my taste.

Salut !

Salut !
Sure have, tony, sure have.
Time to pay tribute to the courses of Ireland.

Portrush, County Down, Ballybunion, Waterville.

It's a shame that these courses are no longer on The Open roster, and never seem to host the Irish Open either.
I haven't played any of them, I've walked around Ballybunion. Odds on some here have though.

I hope play someday in any links course, like this in your pics, Tmee. Have you played in a link?, are really so hard as we think here?

Salut !

I have, In 40 degree C plus. and that was before. Only lasted 9 holes. Went past the clubhouse on the way too the 10th, needless too say that's as far as we got, after a few beers it was more important too keep drinking rather than get sun burnt

My home course is a coastal course tony, like Pebble Beach is, though not strictly a links course. I've played Deal in England (Royal Cinque Ports, its official title), obviously quite an experience because it was once a British Open course.
How hard they play is determined by the weather, and you only need to see this year's Open at St Andrews to see that. Rory McIlroy, 63 1st round, 80 2nd round. Most of them are not particularly long so on a fine day they are by no means terrifying. But- on the coast it's windy most of the time, and then the course is much more demanding. Throw in some bad weather, like we are all used to seeing at The Open, and it is Hang On For Dear Life. It's the best test of the top players, without a doubt. I remember seeing Tiger Woods blown away at Muirfield in 2002 when Ernie Els won.
Two years ago Greg Norman (aged 53) nearly won, with no preparation in horrendous conditions, and last year Tom Watson (aged 59) should have won. They are not going to be able to do that on courses where length is a premium, clearly the younger players are going to beat them every time. It's a different story on the Open courses though.
One thing about St Andrews. What makes that course is the 17th, the Road Hole. I don't understand why modern course designs don't replicate it. Just make a Road Hole, it can't be that hard, surely.

Boooooooooooo!

Turned out to be a great tourney! Loved the course. It was supposed to rain today. I didn't think there would be play. Nice job Europe. Next time the cup will be ours!

I am always struck by cheering for an opposing player's screw up. It is so out of character with golf!

What was up with Colin messing with the posting of scores? I gotta say I have a serious problem with that; if it turns out to be true. Our broadcasters sure covered it as fact. Does Europe even know what I am talking about? That seems out of bounds for a host team to take that advantage; or use that to pump up the crowd?

From my recollection: Colin asked scoring officials, or those controlling the Jumbo Trons on Sunday to delay posting scores for US to keep the crowd behind Europe;

I haven't read about this but just heard briefly during Sunday's broadcast and the US broadcasters seemed to think that was fair gamesmanship?
