Sheena Monnin is a resident of of Cranberry, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Pittsburgh), and finished university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service and a Master’s Degree in Psychology .... just the qualification required for the role of a beauty queen.

She started by competing in Miss USA preliminary pageants in her native Florida, before moving on to Texas, and finally, when she moved Pennsylvania she won that title (Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012) with all the publicity and potential that entailed ..... and that propelled her into the Miss USA finals in June 2012 .... where national fame beckoned.

During the Miss USA contest, she says that she talked to another contestant who claimed that she saw the names of the 'top five' on a telecast paper, in exactly the same order in which they were later called out after the judging. As soon as the winners were called out, Monnin stepped down from the contest, and passed a statement to the organisers (which they released), stating “I refuse to be part of a pageant system that has so far and so completely removed itself from its foundational principles as to allow and support natural born males to compete in it. This goes against ever [sic] moral fiber of my being.”

The contestant she claimed had told her the winners, Karina Brez (Miss Florida), later said she had made her comment jokingly and the order was just a coincidence.

The organisers fought back, and on Dec 30, 2012, an arbitrator ruled that she must pay the Universe Organization owner Donald Trump $5 million for defamation, finding that her comments were 'false, harmful and malicious'. Monnin later got new legal advice and petitioned the New York district judge in charge of confirming the award, for an extension, which she was granted until February 5, 2013 when she is expected to appeal against the award (which I expect that she can't pay in anycase)

She feels that if everyone would submit to a lie-detector test that would help clear up the matter .... yeah right, everyone is going to do that

This one was suggested to me by pierrelm, and after a bit of thought, her media breakthrough attempts swung it (looks were also a factor - I'm shallow ), yep she qualifies.

Sally Illman was born into a normal family but after her father died, she used her inheritance to attend Marlborough College public school at the same time as other future 'Tory' wives such as British Prime Minister's wife, Samantha Cameron. She then went to Oxford University, but dropped out after just two years .... she then joined a City of London public relations firm. She met her future husband at a national Conservative Students Conference where they must have stood out as she towers over him.

She addressed two Conservative Party Conferences, and her husband John Bercow became a Conservative MP at the 1997 General Election, but at the same time she started campaigning actively for Tony Blair and New Labour. In 2010, she stood as a Labour candidate for the St James ward of Westminster City Council but failed to gain the seat. She repeatedly mentioned her desire to become a Labour MP but has acknowledged in November 2012 that her Twitter gaffes have ended any hopes of a parliamentary career and she will not be seeking a Labour Party seat for the 2015 UK General Election.

Her media career has been varied, and she was a columnist for the Daily Star Sunday until March 2012, and on TV with an appearance as a panelist on the BBC's comedy-news show 'Have I Got News For You'. In August 2011 she entered the 'Big Brother House' as a housemate on Channel 5's 'Celebrity Big Brother 2011'. She claimed to have chosen this as her way of 'upsetting the establishment'..... On 26 August she became the first person to be evicted

January 2012, saw her take part in 'When Paddy Met Sally' on Channel 5, with her fellow Big Brother housemate, Paddy Doherty. This was followed up with 'Paddy and Sally's Excellent Gypsy Adventure' in September of the same year. She has been an occasional panellist on The Wright Stuff since 2011

Ignoring her political switches, her Oops are many and varied ...

Oops:

• It was reported in the Daily Mail newspaper that during her time with OUCA, she was involved in a social event for which OUCA booked strippers

• In a 2009 interview she spoke about alcoholism and one-night stands in her twenties .... she said it started while she was at Oxford and continued when she started working in the City.

• Her Oxford ghosts returned to haunt her when it was alleged she lied on her CV about getting a 'theology degree'and even boasted of an "upper second", as some reports claimed .... when she had left Keeble after two years without one. She insists she never lied about her academic record but sinned by ommission rather than lying.

• She posed in just a night sheet for a newspaper interview .... it caused much comment as it was accompanied by a comment about her husbands sex appeal in his speakers role (and costume?).

She has no control over her mouth, and lets fly on Twitter without a second thought ....

1. In November 2012 she used her Twitter account to hint the name of Lord 'M', a Conservative peer alleged by the BBC to be a paedophile. The allegations proved to be unfounded, and she is now defending herself in a £50,000 ($75k US - different laws than US, where this would be millions), libel lawsuit filed by Lord 'M'.
2. Undeterred, she also named a schoolgirl involved in a recent abduction case. The name of the schoolgirl was protected by a court order .... and she could face contempt of court charges.
3. Also in that month, her Twitter account was deleted after being hacked, but she returned to Twitter a week later ... only for her account to be hacked a second time in December 2012.

Trivia:

• She was the social secretary of the Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA).
• She stated that she would not send her children to a grammar school because of her opposition to selection at the age of eleven .... which is in contrast to the Labour Party elite, who speak out against privilege but send their kids to private schools.
• Her move to the left was broadly in line with her husbands move from the far right, to far left of the Tory Party, when it was rumoured he would defect to Labour himself, but he got the speakers role, so doesn't take the Tory whip now.
• The author of a biography of John and Sally Bercow, Bobby Friedman, has claimed that John "read the Riot Act" to her after the bed sheet photo was published.

Way back when, in August 2010, I posted on a little 'superstar' by the name of Nicole Polizzi, publicly known by her nickname 'Snooki' ... little did I think that she would survive the ages, and be worth a follow up for her antics since. So let's keep this brief ....

Since that post she has achieved what I believe is termed 'Breakout' from the Jersey Whore, oops 'Jersey Shore' series, and appeared on numerous talks shows, including 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', and the 'Late Show with David Letterman' and the wrestling program 'WWE Raw'. She is also one of the highest paid reality stars, earning $150,000 per episode as of season five (now that's disgraceful for you!!).

She has produced three (yes three!!) whole books, 'A Shore Thing', 'Confessions of a Guidette', and her latest opus 'Gorilla Beach', was a sequel to the first novel ..... I don't think she actually wrote them, but hey maybe she did ... Polizzi appeared as herself in the 2012 comedy 'The Three Stooges'. She has also entered the pugilistic world, with 'Team Snooki Boxing' which puts on boxing bouts.

She also got 'engaged', and had her first child ..... apparently you don't actually get married nowadays, you just 'get engaged' and have the children .... probably saves on the divorce costs

When we last heard from her in 2010, she was awaiting a court appearance ... she was sentenced to a $500 fine and community service. In handing down the sentence, the characterized her as "a Lindsay Lohan wannabe". In fact he just helped her to her first million as her arrest was taped during production of season three of Jersey Shore.

In May 2011 in Florence, Italy, she was taken into custody by local police after the car she was driving collided with a parked traffic police car. She was cited and released .... Two police officers sustained minor injuries.

In late 2011, she sued SRG Ventures, a licensing company she had signed with a year earlier to bring out Snooki-branded merchandise. She claimed that they led her to believe that she could make $100 million over three years, if she signed with the firm. Instead, she earned just $250,000 and decided to sue - they counter-sued for $7m, and as of May 2012, it was reported that the case was still going to court.

After she gave a talk to students at Rutger University, some of them complained that the school's money would've been better used on speakers other than Polizzi, after she gave the advice "Study hard, but party harder" .... well as she is now a millionaire, and not for her brains, she would say that wouldn't she

Finally, nude pictures of her have started leaking on to the Internet ... posted anonymously, she at first denied them, but as evidence mounted that they were of her, and taken before she got pregnant, Snooki's 'rep' confirmed to E! News that the photos are in fact of the reality star, telling the website, "Clearly these are old and personal photos that were not meant for the public. It's a shame someone decided to leak them for obvious personal gain."

Trivia:

• In April 2011, Polizzi was paid $32,000 to speak at Rutgers University.
• In February 2013, Polizzi sold her customized 2011 Cadillac Escalade EXT on eBay for $77,510, earning her $15,000 more than what a standard 2011 Escalade EXT with similar mileage would cost. The pickup truck was customized with hot-pink grilles, wheels and badges, wrapped in black vinyl lizard skin, and leopard-print floor mats.
• Her first book sold approximately 9,000 copies within its first month of release, during which it accumulated 16 one-star customer reviews on Amazon.com.

Adele King (b. Adele Condron-King) but commonly known as "Twink" started singing and acting as a 'Gaiety' Kiddie, and in pantomime in Ireland at the age of five, and never looked back. She managed 30 years in Dublin's theatres and has been described as Ireland's 'Panto Queen', as well as many theatrical productions in Ireland. As well as her theatre career she has been on Irish television regularly since the late 1960's .... but strangely no film work listed.

She has even had a spell as an 'Agony Aunt' for the Irish magazine 'TV Now' but her fortunes have fluctuated since her divorce, but her house was ultimately not repossessed after she ran into arrears on her mortgage repayments ...

She runs a performance school and was accused of a conflict of interest over her marks for a contestant, known to her, on the talent show 'Class Act'. She responded thus "If Osama bin Laden's son was on the programme and he threatened to send a big squad to my house if I didn't put his child through, I wouldn't." ... which is an answer of sorts.

After her marriage of 21 years, ended in October 2004, her now ex husband had a child with another woman .... cue an infamous phone call from Ms King to her Ex .... The recording contained industrial bad language, such as "zip up your *mickey" (*Irish slang for penis), and insults to her Ex's new partner and the newborn infant, calling them "whore" and "bastard" and him "a fat, bald middle aged dickhead". She then went on to threaten her Ex with denial of contact with his daughters if photographs of his new family appeared in public. She recorded the hostile message on her answering machine and it was posted on to the Internet here. Her Ex left has now left his new partner and child and reportedly visits the old family home again, but apparently not immediately into Twinks arms .....

She had a very public falling out during a tirade in May 2010, with long term friend and singer, Linda Martin, whom she described as "a Cunt" .... The two had been friends for 30 years, but both said afterwards that they had no plans to speak to each other again.

Her latest biography 'Twink Unzipped!' details her affair with a priest ("this blond, gorgeous Californian boy", who revealed that he was a priest), and how she was sexually assaulted by a different priest when she was just 13 "He suddenly shot his hand down my shirt and groped me, telling me what beautiful breasts I had. I remember being so shocked that I could barely scream. I only shared the full story with my mother years later".

How she once considered killing herself and her daughters in the depths of depression ("It happened when I hit rock bottom on the worst day of my life"), and how she has found love again in the arms of an Egyptian doctor.

Trivia:

• The opening night of 'Menopause: The Musical' due to take place on 27th April 2010, was cancelled after 'Twink' was hospitalised.
• Apparently in 1993, she was the guest act at a Christmas concert by Perry Como at Dublin's Point Theatre, which was televised to a worldwide audience of 880 million .... well maybe that's a bit exaggerated, a fifth of humanity is a lot more than Mr Como's usual audience.
• She is the mother of singer 'Chloë Agnew' from the group 'Celtic Woman'.
• She won a Jacob's Award for her performance in her 1981 Christmas Light Entertainment Special on RTÉ Two.
• She has pet dogs, cats, birds, and a donkey, and they all live with her daughters in Knocklyon, Dublin.

German movie actress Ingrid van Bergen (IMDb page, German Wikipedia page) is notorious for having killed her lover (IMDb says: husband, Wikipedia: lover) Klaus Knath in 1977, for which she was convicted of manslaughter and spend 5 years in prison.

A magazine article from 1977 reporting/commenting the incident. Mr Knaths was 12 years her junior, and had financed her expensive lifestyle. Then he made the fatal mistake to dump her..

Mayra Suarez was born in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico and is a rising fashion model. She began her modeling career in the popular method of the beauty contest, in this case she participated in a 'model contest', 'Elite Model Look Mexico 2003'. She was featured on the covers of the Italian editions of 'Glamour' and 'Vogue Beauty'. She has appeared in advertisements for 'Dillard's' and 'Target' and 'KensieGirl'. She is seriously mainstream, and doesn't do risque shoots, well, lingerie stuff and one little 'arty' topless shoot.

And that would be that but for a small Oops ...

Never ever take 'self photos' for your boyfriend, or Never let anyone take photos of you in the bathroom ...... ex boyfriends can Never be trusted Either way they always get leaked to the web (or at least thats what multiple sites claimed in February 2012). Despite the plastering of the photos over various web sites, she has perhaps wisely made no comment on their veracity or not ..... 'Least said, soonest mended' is a policy a few of our ladies could have better employed.

Huong Hoang, was born on the 16th of July, 1971, in Saigon, Vietnam, and also goes by the stage name 'Junie Hoang'. She was a dancer at age 16 and she graduated salutatorian of her high school class. She attended Texas A&M University and qualified with a B.S. in Biomedical Science from the College of Veterinary Medicine. She received a teaching certificate in dance and later trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts .....

According to the IMDb website, her credits include a part in 'Hoodrats 2: Hoodrat Warriors' and a part as a triage nurse in a television series 'I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant' and as "Janet" in' My Big Phat Hip Hop Family' ..... but arguably her biggest part was being in the 2011 movie 'Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver'. Yes we are talking that sort of career ....

This was the little scandal that started a few years ago - there was an 'anonymous actress' who sued the movie database website IMDb, because they had revealed her true age and therefore 'lost her jobs'. Presumably she meant that up until then, she was previously able to disguise her true age when applying for jobs such as 'Hoodrats 2: Hoodrat Warriors', and thus get roles that an older actress may not have got.

In fact she had initially provided the IMDb site with a false birth year when they first included her on their pages, that had reduced her stated age by seven years. She was apparently OK with this state of affairs for a number of years ..... but that clock just 'keeps a tickin' and so by 2011 this reduction wasn't cutting the mustard, as even the reduced age was into the mid thirties,

So she had asked for the false DOB information to be removed and presumably leave no DOB. Conspiracy theorists might speculate as to whether a new 'DOB' would have been put on later - or what that might have been, but the facts are that she simply asked for it to be removed. However all didn't go to plan when IMDb decided to look through public records and posted her 'true' DOB instead.

So in 2011 she tried to anonymously sue Amazon, and its movie database subsidiary (under the name "Jane Doe"), whom she accused of 'breach of contract, fraud, violation of privacy and consumer protection laws' ..... she was joined by two acting unions, who also joined in the fun (perhaps sensing a windfall for all the nobodies in the profession), and accused the site of "facilitating age discrimination". She was seeking a sum of $1m (£650,000) in damages.

The parent company Amazon was dismissed as a defendant before the two-day trial of IMDB started, and which concluded on Thursday .... she lost.

What apparently did for her was that:

• IMDB successfully argued that what readers made of the information about her DOB was not their responsibility, and
• She had asked for the false DOB information to be removed (but not to be replaced with the true facts about her age), however the site simply used a public records search to discover her true date of birth and published it ......... admittedly against her objections.

All her claims were rejected by a jury in Seattle ..... not so much 'Huong Hoang' as 'Ho Hum'.

Tran Thi Thuy Dung was born February 8, 1990 in Đà Nẵng, Việt Nam .... and as has been discussed here already, like many an up-and-coming nation, Vietnam has been using beauty contests to publicise the country. In July 2008, it even played host to the Miss Universe pageant (with compares Jerry Springer and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown - aka “Scary Spice” ).

So with this as the background, it was maybe no surprise that at 5-feet-10-inches tall at the age of 17 (height is apparently a major asset in Vietnamese pageants), when she was eighteen she entered the contest that would culminate in the 2008 Miss Vietnam crown in August 2008 (just too late for the Miss Universe).

“When we saw an advertisement in a fashion magazine inviting entrants for Miss Vietnam, I decided to enter”, and armed with some special coaching in Ho Chi Minh City, and with a rack of clothes from her mother’s one-room side street store, she sallied forth into the contest. The main prize on offer was cash of 150 million Viet Dollars (approx US $9,000) at stake, and the chance to compete in that years annual Miss World contest in Johannesburg South Africa. There was also the distinct possibilty of stardom (for example the 2006 winner Mai Phuong Thuy, went on to star in Vietnamese TV commercials for Procter & Gamble Co.’s Pantene shampoo, as well as in a local TV drama about a beauty queen). She won. Stardom beckoned ..... then came the

Now one of the rules in Communist Vietnam Beauty contests is that a minimum educational requirement is attained. In this case that she should have finished high school with a high-school diploma. Government investigators found that she had left school before reaching that level and shocked, Ministry of Culture officials stripped her of her prize.

However as contest organisers hadn't specified that contestants must have graduated from high school, there was some outrage (a sign of the changing times in Vietnam), with some claiming she should have been allowed to keep the crown. Ms. Thuy Dung said “We competed in good faith in accordance with the regulations of the contest,” and her mother, Ms. Bich Ha, joined the fray when she said that she took her daughter out of high school earlier that year in order to prepare her for a high-school equivalency qualification that might give her a better chance of studying in the U.S.

But the head of the Ministry of Culture’s Performing Arts Agency was having none of this criticism. Le Ngoc Cuong (himself a a well-known choreographer of ballets and a winner of Vietnam’s National Artist award), said he had Vietnam’s reputation to protect.

“If we didn’t have the education requirement, then lots of girls would drop out of school to focus on beauty pageants, and we can’t let that happen” .... good for him I say - the western model isn't always the best one.

In an interview in her hometown of Danang after all the fuss died down, Ms. Thuy Dung said “I wish Vietnam can still find the right candidate to send to Miss World, even if it isn’t me”. When last she was heard of, she was planning to return to school to earn her high-school diploma. She could try the pageant circuit again afterwards, but all the publicity attracted a lot of male fans, especially from soldiers where she has become a forces sweetheart “My parents write the replies. They won’t let me do it, as I don't have a boyfriend. Lots of them haven’t finished high school, either.” .... Ahhh
