Lost 'Thanks' yesterday (4th October)? Admin edit - Explanation in Post 3

Hi mods,

When I logged in late evening on 3rd October I had around 350-400 more 'Thanks' than I do now (after Thanks since then are deducted).

Has there been any server/tech issues which may have resulted in the lost 'Thanks' earlier yesterday (4th Oct)?

Another member has asked Admin and it appears to be a gliche of some kind

Issues with them come and go occasionally which eventually get corrected by the tech

The only time you might actually lose a significant number of thanks you should see the posts reduce as well so a bug is most likely the culprit this time around.

The above occurs when they clean out the staffs internal bins where they store deleted posts & deleted threads etc for some time just incase they need to be re-upped.

Well, to put it simply, the thanks hack has always been a bit buggy. I noticed that maintenance on the counters needed to be run since we had a few members that showed over 4,000,000 thanks received for less than 5 posts

It appears that counter maintenance has not been run here in quite a long time, so that is why members will see larger changes in thanks count. Sorry about this but it needed to be done.

I will be running maintenance on a more regular basis from now on so members will see more exact numbers in the count going forward.

Ouch! I lost about 17,000 thanks!

What perplexes me is that I regularly monitor my stats and I never saw my Thanks given count ever suddenly jump up the 17,000 Thanks (claiming to be over given) which have now been taken away and which I lost.

The counter always advanced properly and uniformly one by one for each Thanks given and never mistakenly awarded me any "extra" Thanks which I did not make.

I wouldn't have minded losing a couple of hundred, but 17,000 is quite significant and depressing!

I think that anyone who's only here to collect thanks is a bit of a loony... Sorry; just how I feel about the subject. Do they really matter so much..?
