Default Keeping track of folder thumbnails - Windows 10

Like many of you ( I guess ) I store my images in folders named after the model, and I customize the folder to show a single image of my choosing - usually a clear picture of the model's face.

The problem I have is that W10 has run out of storage space, I think it has a limit of 3000 or so. Now any new folder I create has the same image as a thumbnail, it's a picture of Janet Monroe so it's not all bad ;-)

If I clear the thumbnail cache the folder thumbnails re-build using images from the folder layered one on top of another and never the ones I want to see.

The screenshots below might make it clearer what the problem is...

In Win XP it was possible to hack the registry to increase the number of folders Windows would keep track of, by monkeying with a DWord entry somewhere in the depths.

I cant find any way of doing this in Win 10.

Can anyone help?

And does anyone know what the maximum number of folders it's possible to specify?

Thanks,

I just use IrfanView to create a small pic of every model I add to my collection, max dimension 400 pixels, so it's easy to see. Name the pic after the model, including aliases, and store all of these in one folder, with the actual zips/picture sets each in their own subfolder elsewhere, named after the model. This makes for easy pic browsing by model, even if you have a ton of models. You can just browse the folder full of mini pictures, and then pop over to the model's main folder when you find the one you are looking for.

You can subgroup them by category, or alphabetically (A-D, E-H, etc.) if this makes it easier for you.

It's also easily transferrable to a new PC, regardless of whatever rule changes your new OS makes with regard to folder views. Copy over the mini pics folder along with your main porn folders, and you are all set.

Get in the habit of doing this regularly and its a breeze. I'll keep downloaded stuff in a temp folder for a few weeks and then process it all at once, doing the new girl pics all at a go. IrfanView lets you run the whole process via batch, so you can set your default image size, click a couple of times, and you are all done. It will output the new pics to a temp folder of your choice, just cut and paste them to your main mini-pics folder and you are finished with your housekeeping.

It works a lot better than trying to customize folder views in Windows.
