How safe do you feel from terrorist attacks - Page 5

I am glad to see a couple of the members feel safe where they live.

Do you think it might make terrorists try even harder?? Afterall they are friggin' jihadist idjits.

You know, back in the 60's, I lived in a town of about 150,000 in northern Illinois which was almost exclusively manufacturing. During WWII it had made parts for all kinds of weapons used by the Allies. The town had so many machinists, of all different kinds, that they could literally start manufacturing some new part in a few hours if they had the plans and specs.

There were also rumors back then that if there was ever a nuclear war (anyone else remember nuclear drills back then in the schools?) this town would be one of the first to have a nuke dropped on it. Considering how easily the town could manufacture tank, airplane, submarine or whatever parts, this made some sense.

Don't live there anymore, but I'm also not that far away. So which is more worrisome? Terrorists or a nuke? I'll deal with the terrorist any day. Not much coming back from a nuke.

I agree 9 except for the fact IMO that it is only a matter of time until some jihadist or terror group not only gets a small nuke but detonates it in one of the "Satan" countries.

Hate to say it, but I agree. I certainly don't know, but I'd be willing to bet any of these terrorist groups would give anything to get their hands on a nuke.

Thats why, for years, the US has had a fairly large program which is designed specifically to keep track of all nukes and make sure not a one gets into the hands of any terrorist. Until 2011 when Republicans started cutting funds designed specifically to keep nukes out of terrorists dirty little mitts:
