Carriers (2009)
IMDb
Trailer

Four friends fleeing a viral pandemic soon learn they are more dangerous than any virus.A deadly virus has spread across the globe. Contagion is everywhere, no one is safe and no one can be trusted. Four young attractive people race through the back roads of the American West to the pounding beat of a vacation soundtrack. Their aim is to retreat to secluded utopian beach in the Gulf of Mexico, where they could peacefully wait out the pandemic and survive the apocalyptic disease. Their plans take a grim turn when their car breaks down on an isolated road starting a chain of events that will seal the fate of each of them in an inexorable and horrifying voyage of hell through a western landscape populated by only the hideous dead or the twisted living.

Flicking through the channels last night I came across a film called The Collection. It sounded interesting so I recorded it. Reading up about it I found out it was a sequel to a film called The Collector. I managed to find a copy in cex. Just watched it and have to say it was an interesting film.

An ex-con handyman plans to rob a house where he has worked for the family, where. in the process he has befriended the young daughter. When he has gained entry he finds that a serial killer known as the Collector has already broken in and is torturing the occupants and has set deadly traps around the house. He is faced with a choice. Escape or help the family.

Despite it's negative reviews (wikipedia) I found that a slow start turned into an above average horror slasher.

I watched Wonder Woman (2017) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonder_Woman_(2017_film) on cable. I guess I am a Marvel fan not a DC fan. Gadot and Pine are fine, just could not get over how silly the movie was. Don't know why I liked Guardians of the Galaxy more, maybe they didn't take themselves that seriously.

Can't really see myself buying the Blu-ray.

The Handmaid's Tale (1990)

Trailer

In the near future, the United States has become the Republic of Gilead, a fascist theocracy with a largely sterile population due to pollution. The women that are still fertile are chosen to serve as concubines (Handmaids) for privileged but barren couples. One such woman is Kate (Natasha Richardson), who tried to escape with her husband and daughter but was caught by the Gilead Border Guard. Her husband was shot and her daughter lost. After having spent time in a training facility for potential Handmaids, she is assigned to the Commander (Robert Duvall) and his wife Serena Joy (Faye Dunaway). They have her subjected to a number of "ceremonies" in which she's raped by the Commander in order to become pregnant. But the Commander's interest in Kate goes beyond routine and reveals the hypocrisy of those in power.

Though well-directed by Volker Schlöndorff, the story looks like a puzzle with too many missing pieces. Adapted from Margaret Atwood's eponymous novel, it had the potential to become a much better film but budget constraints and a messy script made sure that didn't happen. Harold Pinter, who wrote the original script, backed out of the project in its early stage but was still credited as the screenwriter. Because of the many divergencies from Pinter's screenplay, The Handmaid's Tale ended up looking like a glorified television film with some soap opera-style acting. But the topic remains important. It depicts a dystopian country gone stark raving mad that reminds you of places like Saudi Arabia.

Sometimes, you just need an old classic we've all seen

Never seen the sequel, More American Graffiti,
For those that have, is it worth it

Thought that would be the case,
I rarely take notice of critics,
The critics here on this forum will do me as deranged as many of you are

Kickboxer Retaliation

IMDB
YouTube Trailer

One year after finding vengeance for his murdered brother, MMA champion Kurt Sloane finds himself back in Thailand, kidnapped and imprisoned there by a powerful gangster. His only shot at freedom is to win an underground death match against a 400-lb. killer enhanced with state-of the-art drugs. To make it out alive, he seeks training unlike anything he's ever endured, with the help of the legendary Master Durand and fellow prisoner Briggs.

It was great!
Kickboxer Retaliation is one of these bigger and louder sequels where producers and the director have perfectly understood this concept. It's an all-action extravaganza, a relentless thrill-ride which must contains...for all I know...something like 30 combats during its long but very wall paced 110mn.
The final fight between Moussi and Björnsson is probably 30mn long and very impressive. Those guys know their moves!
Kickboxer Retaliation is also sometimes very funny, never taking itself too seriously and visually stunning. The first one was alright but the sequel is awesome. If you like martial arts flicks and wanna be entertain two hours long, that's the movie you should see. And Goddess Sara Malakul Lane's in it, even if she doesn't take off her clothes this time. Bummer!

Warlock

I am not sure how many times I have seen this but normally catch it when its on the small screen. De forest Kelly always inspiring as a cowboy baddie, although a baddie comes good in this film. An early role for funny man Frank Gorshin.
