It's one of lifes odd coincidences that I was actually thinking about Derek Griffiths today. He and Brian Cant along with Fred Harris were our childhood friends.

That song was part of my childhood and so was the late Brian Cant, another childhood hero now sadly departed this earth. Loved all the puppet stuff he did from Camberwick Green to Chigley and Trumpton and I still know all the tunes they were that good.

When Brian Cant was the narrator of Trumpton he would have been 32 years old: much younger than I now am. I would have been 4 years old when this was first aired on TV but we didn't have a TV yet in our house. Sad that people grow old and die but Brian Cant, in some ways, will always be young.

He used a knife and rubber mallet to kill the children as they slept on January 7, 1978 in Rockford Illinois he then drove to Milwaukee to beat his wife who was seeking a divorce at the time Nelson claimed that he "snapped" when his wife announced her intention to divorce him and alleges that he can’t recall the killings because of amnesia. He first was eligible for parole in 1986 and has been denied at least 15 times.

I vaguely remember watching Playschool occasionally when I was a child in the 80's (but not Play Away-never seen that).
I somewhat remember Big Ted, Little Ted, Humpty and Jemima (not to mention Johnny Ball!)..

I don't really remember him though-when it was first announced I thought at first that it was other guy (Derek Griffiths) who'd died.

The cause of death is not known.
