If you're basing your file host choices on which one of em uses PayPal,
then your list of choices is pretty damned small lol. It's very true what
you said about being able to "control the pipeline", going thru PP, but
I promise you that PayPal is probably 100 times more crooked than any
file host that's ever existed, and there's been some real Al Capones in
the file host world lol. What it all boils down to, is what you feel or don't
feel comfortable with. Rapidshare is the only file host that I know of
that had pockets deep enough to pay off PayPal, and continue with
them, so that's who I'd use if I were you. As Mr. Gussett said....it's your choice.

Funny you should mention payPal, they once tried to rip me off so I would avoid them.

Actually, I had a paid account with one of the file hosts that you can't name here, and could use PayPal. I routinely cancelled the payment for the next month as soon as the current month got deducted, but kept re-enabling it so long as all was well. I was quite satisfied for a long time, but one day my PayPal re-up got kicked back, so I inquired and was told that they had a "new way for you to pay," Why, just put your credit card number here.

They seemed trustworthy, but I wasn't willing to risk this. I was afraid that one day I might e-mail a cancellation and be told it was too late, then next time have to cancel a week early or something like that.

I tried using a Visa gift card with just $50 on it to renew, but that got rejected. It would seem that they want to control the strings.

Just concerned that we're drifting into general 'paying for hosting' concerns when this is a dedicated FileFactory thread......

I have a problem with filefactory - as a premium member. Download is great, but (Using firefox - even with adblock and no script both locally disabled) I repeatedly try to upload and get a hang at 99% of the file being up. At that point nothing further happens, even if I leave it overnight. What am I doing wrong? I am not using a file manager, just their own drag and drop or 'simple uploader' - same thing happens, regardless.
answers appreciated

My files often appear to hang. I leave 'em for 5 minutes. Then I go in and check my newest files. 99 times out of a 100, they're there.

I've had the same problem, my guess a browser incompatibilty. I just use FTP anyway, it's my preference (shame you have to be a premium user to use FTP).

ah well, I had yet another file hang - again at 99% with less than 500k to go, so I left it alone for 4 hours and still nothing happened. Am now trying FTP thank you Mr Gusset and Gailfan. I'll let you know how I get on!

FF's upload page, I don't believe, works too awfully well with larger uploads.
As Gailfan mentioned, using Mozilla's FTP client makes for a great way to
upload, although......it's certainly not the only way, and can seem sort of
complicated one's first go round with it. I probably haven't uploaded more
than a handful of things via FF's upload page, in the entire 4 years + I've
used them, using FTP, or Zoom file uploader......which I actually prefer
over FTP'ing most of the time. If one method isn't working too well, most
of the time the other will be I've found. Zoom is a tiny little program, that
can upload to virtually any file host. Like I said......I use both, depending
on which one is working better.Zoom can also be used whether one has a
premium account or not. Just throw "Filezilla" or "Zoom file uploader", into
a search, and give one or both of them a test drive. Good luck
