Dawn Addams
Born: September 21, 1930 in Felixstowe, Suffolk, England
Died: May 7, 1985 (age 54) in London, England http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0011625/ One film stuck with me all my adult life. I've seen it once, many years after I knew her from other films. L'île du bout du monde (1959) Although when I saw this b/w movie it was called "Temptation Island". This one film is not a fantastic sexploitation film ( ignoring Magali Moel's underwater skinny dip), but in late 1950s Britain it paved the way (to me) to recognising that women were equal to men in sexual drives and priorities. Dawn Addams was a serious actress with Hollywood credits and respect. That she was so marginalised in the UK is a surprise. She was sexier, classier and had more to offer than so many of her contemporaries it remains a mystery to me. Dawn died of cancer at the age of 55. Her credits include an extra from "Singin' in the Rain" through "The Robe" and Chaplin's "King in New York". ....to bloody Crossroads ( which is the original shaking backcloth and stuck doors Brit soap.)   She had a bitter divorce from an Italian 'noble', lost her second child through pneumonia and spent her later years before illness campagning for charity causes.
