The current issue of Mayfair with Felicity Hill on the cover needs a mention .
Well worth hanging around a news agent till it empties for . Felicity has mostly been the type of model to keep her knickers on in photoshoots thus far but you get to see some cracking minge shots in that set . Sorry about the quality of that last photo but my scanners broke . |

Thinking back to some old covers that made an impression on me...
This was a very early memory - I tend to be more a big boobs guy, but at a young age I could still see the attraction of a great arse... Or a really beautiful face... And this was massively boner-inducing, in a way I'll never forget... |

This one:
Lovebirds Vol 1 Number 8. I remember finding this in some bushes when I was about 16. I took it home, of course, and was under the impression I'd stumbled across something hardcore/illegal. Such was the innocence of 1970s Britain! Anyway, when I saw it, my eyes were certainly "out on stalks"!

First, a hat-tip to Girlfan who made me aware of this thread and suggested I come and post about a mag cover I'd posted elsewhere at VEF.
The cover is from Men Only vol 41 no 6 1976. This particular image is from VEF member restoration201's excellent creamcheesex site, a superb resource for anyone with a liking for UK 70s mainstream softcore mags. So, to the cover I first saw this on sale in my local branch of the much missed John Menzies newsagent. I was 17 but probably looked older, being tall and well-built. I don't know if this John Menzies shop was violating company policy selling Men Only. My local branch was an odd shop, within a few months they were selling obscure punk singles with a huge spread of picture sleeves attached to the wall. I used usually to buy my girly magazines from a couple of newsagents near my sixth form that had a good selection of top shelf magazines including the early Sullivan and Gold Star explicit mags. I never bought girlies from this particular Menzies because a number of family members including my mother used it often and I didn't want to be caught buying sex mags by one of them. But this issue leapt out from the top shelf... Magazines, then as sometimes now, were displayed on shelves overlapped by the next magazine to the right and so on and so on. This meant that usually only the left side of the cover was visible. And what is the most visible thing on the left-hand side of this cover? That tightly packed labial cleft, what we would now call a camel toe (hate the phrase, prefer Teddybear's Smile). To put it bluntly, there in a family shop was essentially a photo of a woman's cunt. I took down a copy of the magazine. I have to say that the accompanying photoset was unimpressive although the girl was cute but the cover gave me a hard-on in the shop that thankfully my tight jeans restrained. I took the mag over to the young woman on the till, an added thrill, bought the issue there and then. and walked home with it in a thin Menzies bag. I couldn't make it all the way home, I was so dying for a wank. Call me pervy but I nipped into a quiet and secluded Ladies toilets in a local park - I couldn't bear the thought of a stinky Gents - locked myself into a cubicle, sat on the WC with my jeans around my ankles and my painfully hard cock in my hand and wanked myself furiously looking at that white shorts-covered cleft, and it wasn't long before I blasted a fountain of spunk against the toilet door, on the floor, and onto the worn wooden toilet seat that had been warmed by many a womanly arse. I guess that was probably a crime but I wasn't seen by anyone, thankfully this was long before surveillance cameras were everywhere. I returned to this cover often over the following weeks and months and I still do now and then, 40 years later. Edit 15th September 2017: The model is Marguerite Turmacher. Thanks and hat-tip to martsm for the ID.

My shock on first seeing a girly mag - it would have been one from my dad's stash of circa 1970 upmarket Girlies - was that the girls in the magazines apparently didn't have genitals I'm getting off topic, so down to the point. One cover I remember making my eyes bug out was this one: I was on holiday in the Lake District with my parents, staying at a Bed & Breakfast in Ambleside. This issue was on display in the main newsagents on the steep main shopping street, almost certainly a WH Smith's, and having seen it on display when in the shop with my mum, I found it fascinating and found a reason every day to go into the shop and look at the cover. I was 14 and nearly 45 years later I'm baffled as to what fascinated me so much. What I do know is that this was the magazine cover that brought it home to me that I could buy current copies of the magazines in my dad's stash in high street newsagents. By my next birthday I was buying Girlies for myself.

Rustler Volume 1 issue 6 1976
At the top of the high street next to the railway station in the town next to the city I lived in as a teenager was a wonderful independent bookshop and stationers of the kind that no longer exists. In my later teens the shop converted part of its frontage to a news-agent's booth with newspapers and conventional magazines on a large sloping counter in front of the assistant and 'adult' magazines on a rack behind them.
This was at that time in the seventies UK when hardcore porn briefly featured in some of the 'stronger' girly magazines and you could buy them in family newsagents. At the time I was buying my girly magazines from shops near my school where there was a chance I might be spotted by my teachers or schoolmates. I didn't feel too bad about being spotted buying magazines at the more polite end of soft-core but I was uncomfortable about buying the explicit Gold Star and Sullivan magazines where the girls were often shown with sopping wet open cunts, arseholes on show, and sometimes inserting vibrators or being shagged. So I began to buy these more explicit publications, particularly 'Rustler' and its sister magazine 'Journal of Sex' speculatively from the Bookshop newsagents because I couldn't flick through the pages as I would in an ordinary newsagents. This bookshop was a venue where I was less likely to be spotted. The first magazine I bought from there was Rustler Vol 1 issue 6 and I bought it purely on the appeal of its cover of 'Isabel' or as the accompanying copy had it "Knickerless Nurse" Isabel. I very much had a thing about nurse's uniforms. I liked 'Isabel' as a model but I loved the photograph of her on the cover fully dressed in nurse's uniform but taking out her cute little right tit. 'Isabel' had appeared in an earlier issue of 'Rustler' and reminded me of a girl I had fancied at school and sixth form, a cute but rather out of reach girl, Lynne S. I was entranced by that cover photo of a dressed 'Nurse Isabel', uniform open and baring her sweet right tit for my delectation. I'd already had some excellent wanks over 'Isabel's' previous Rustler set and the thought of her/Lynne S in and out of a 70's Nurses uniform was too much to resist. I bought the magazine there and then. I got it home, locked myself in my bedroom and turned straight to the set featuring 'Nurse Isabel' I was not disappointed. Here the set is in full, almost certainly downloaded from a posting here at VEF so all credit to the scanner and original poster: Along with the photograph used on the cover my favourite photographs are the one of her showing just her black stockinged legs shod with work shoes, knees pulled up and fingers framing her slick arsehole but most of all the photograph of her sitting in an examination room fully dressed in nurse's uniform but with her legs spread and pulling her knickers to one side while fingering open her neat little twat. I must have pumped out at least a couple of pints over 'Isabel' over the four decades since I first bought those early issues of 'Rustler' I've so enjoyed looking at and thinking about these photos again that I've decided to try to buy copies on the collector's market of the issues of 'Rustler' she appeared in, just so I can own hopefully pristine copies of her photosets.

Rustler Volume 1 issue 7 1976
I bought this magazine from the same Bookshop newsagents as the issue of Rustler in my previous post, again on the strength of the cover image seen from a couple of yards away on the rack behind the assistant...
...but from a slightly different motive. The girl on the cover, 'Baby Doll Judy', reminded me of my cousin Natasha with whom I was in love - and she with me - but we both were inhibited by the thought that romantic relationships and sex between first cousins was illegal (it isn't). I was also very much turned on by the scenario, a girl wearing a summer dress on a bike in the countryside. Once again, like the previous issue of 'Rustler' I bought the mag on sight without having viewed the inside of it. Once again I was delighted by the set of the cover model inside once I'd got home and locked my bedroom door. As with the set of 'Isabel' above, my favourite photographs of 'Judy' were of her fully dressed but baring her bush and her bottom astride her bike. That said I was also very turned on by the photograph of her sitting back on a plaid blanket in her white summer dress, skirt pulled up around her waist, white knickers around her upper thighs while she fingered her very hairy cunny and looked knowingly at the camera. Sexy though the photographs of her holding her quim open were, her more restrained poses were the ones that did the job for me and still do. Often 'dressed but revealing secret parts' is more naked than naked. If you've enjoyed her, here are a few more photographs of 'Judy' from the same photo session, probably published in 'the Journal of Sex'. I think they're worth seeing just for another photo of her lovely bared bottom very similar to the one used on the cover of 'Rustler'. I was wanking looking at Judy but in my mind I was fucking my Natasha. So often when we bought a girly mag on the strength of the cover we found the girl wasn't even in the magazine. 'Judy' and 'Isabel' were and have been darlings of mine for nearly half a century, examples of times when I was well-guided by covers that made my eyes pop out on stalks, not to mention my fly. Again, I probably downloaded these photos here at VEF so credit to the original scanners and posters.

Of course, covers don't always have to be blatant or explicit to grab you by the balls- Case in point, one of my all-time favourites from my teens, Penthouse in 1985 (IIRC the month depended on whether it was the UK or US edition), featuring Sue Elvin and her 18-year-old daughter Louise. Penthouse was only an occasional indulgence for me back then (to be honest, it never quite hit the spot for me as a mag), but this was one of the rare occasions I had to buy an issue. OK, the 'Mother and Daughter' headline brings a certain kinky frisson with it, but that cover image is just utterly compelling- There's nothing at all on show, just a headshot of two beautiful women staring intently out from the cover (they both have the most beautiful eyes, something I've always noticed in a woman). but as soon as I saw that cover, I knew I needed to see the bodies that went with those lovely faces, and they really didn't disappoint. Apart from some slightly-uncomfortable almost-lesbian overtones to some of the poses that probably never crossed my mind when I was 18, it's hardly the most explicit set Penthouse ever ran- legs generally stayed firmly closed and Sue kept a little too much clothing on in many of the pics- but they really were a gorgeous pair and absolutely drove me wild at the time- I probably spent as much time locked in my bedroom with that mag as Pinkpapercut did with Nurse Isabel I've long lost the original mag, but it's a set that I'd never forgotten, and was one of the first things I searched out when I discovered VEF, so credit goes to the original scanners and posters

I later managed to re-acquire copies of the two Rustlers for £3 each over the counter at the Manchester shop that later became Jobbydealers, which I lived within walking distance of, but I was unable to find the earlier issue featuring 'Isabel'. Nowadays it costs forty times its cover price but, rarely for me, I'm prepared to splash out £30 just to once again splash out over that long unseen other set of 'Isabel'.

Another blast from the past in my teens, Mayfair September 1985. I was just starting at uni, and Mayfair was becoming my regular favourite mag. Now I've always had an eye for the appeal of a sporty girl, and gymnast Lynette Gordon was one of Mayfair's 'scoops'- one of those one-off sets by a girl who didn't do much, if anything else in the way of glamour modelling. Her appearance on Mayfair's cover, practicing her routines in a very revealing outfit immediately caught my eye, and a copy soon joined the very limited stash of wank mags I kept hidden in my room in halls. Lynette's set certainly gave my wrist plenty of exercise during my student days!
Again, not the most explicit set, but definitely the standout set of that issue for me- that issue of Mayfair didn't survive my uni days, it probably got binned during a move, but when I first joined VEF, it was one I remembered and looked up - and still hits a spot for me, Lynette's a real cutie.
