I think you have the cart before the horse. Doping the kids up makes for more kids with suicidal thoughts. What we want is less kids with suicidal thoughts.

I don't really hate any of those things, I do, however, hate some of the things they've been put to use for by people.

That father of Brenda Spencer - who supposedly sexually abused her for years prior to the incident - knew his daughter was suicidal, but bought her a rifle? Although he denied abusing her, after she was imprisoned he married a girl who looked like his daughter and was younger than her - ?

I am not going to be able to listen to "I don't like Mondays" the same way again.

Not to pick on you (you didn't go down this route), but ... this has what to do with firearms?

There are a lot of sick people in the world. Violence is violence. Too much is normalized.

I have this discussion with the right-wingers all-the-time too. They look at pornography as violence, and I keep telling them they have to separate the sex and erotica from the violence using sex as the excuse. We need to not only separate them, but stop equating healthy erotica with violence.

Doesn't matter what 'instrument' is used, violence is the problem. Anyone who has looked at not only US "knife violence" and US "knife control" (yes, we have it, some places in the US are far worse than almost anywhere in Europe), knows it's more than just firearms. The US is violent, and has some really serious issues.

And then we can talk organized crime, and how it's been interwoven for centuries -- even some of the US' Framers were a part of it -- which is unlike most of the western world. Not surprising, some of the countries with high rates of unlawful homicides are that way the same way the US is ... organized crime.

Otherwise the problem continues. Just like outlawing legal gun ownership won't do jack in the US, although it will reduce most of the non-gang mass shootings, although repealing the 1990 federal law would also help that too (school shootings went exponential after it). In fact, based on Australia, other, violent crime might actually increase due to reduced deterrent. Rural US, like Canada and Australia, are very similar.

Especially since the US has far more organized crime than either Australia or Canada, and very large cities with masses amounts of it. Remove just 4-5 of those cities, and the US unlawful homicide rate plummets from 10,000 to just a couple, almost entirely organized crime-based.

The US has reached the point where its media is focused on 2 entities, the NRA and the Russians. I have no problem with Americans questioning those 2 organizations. But what I do have a problem with is the US media not questioning others. Like the organizations that don't care what pro-2nd Amendment students think, and won't bus them to hear their voices heard either.

Limited facts and truth can be found in the US media any more. The right-wing scared us with terrorism, and the left-wing picked that mantle up, and has brought yet more. Americans are giving away their freedoms over safety, even though the statistics say only the fear of it is the issue, not the reality.

I would prefer that the parents of suicidal children (Spencer) or mentally defective children (Lanza/Harper-Mercer) not arm them. I wouldn't let them operative heavy machinery either.

Also doesn't help that the US media will give them more stories and, in some cases, more movies than Manson.

With all the press showing kids protesting, the latest polls indicate 1 in 5 Americans want the Second Amendment repealed.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.55cd70607735 I would have thought it would be near 25% - like those who want to ban handguns, but it support for the ban is lower than I expected.

Since they need 3/4ths of the States to repeal the Second Amendment, the articles that state there is a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding seem accurate.

Those one in five are all leftie coastal city dwellers, no doubt.

I posted about this elsewhere, but I believe what is going on now with this manipulation of children is a vile and cynical attempt by hard-core lefties with an agenda. I'm not buying it. It's at least as sinister as Trump wanting to have a dictator style military parade in Washington in his "honor".

This is the second hysterical movement taking place after Trump's victory with murky origins, the first being the #MeToo movement.

It's like somebody is pulling out all the stops in face of a surprise cultural reversal with Trump's election. They really, REALLY wanted it to be the "other way".
