That's right, but more correctly, chooses to not succeed

They might be back in droves this year
Yes the Canucks have qualified again in Qatar in November - something a bit different.

Hybrid Aussie Rules
Quote:
And thats the trouble with Aussie Rules these days - too many RULES. I remember back in about 2011 Nathan Buckley who was a champion player who retired in about 2006 and went on the rules committee shortly after. He came off that committee because he said Leave the game alone - stop changing the rules - went on to coach Collingwood - what did you think of him E? Actually my brother thinks most of the rule changes including the farcical ones implemented by Steven Hocking in about 2019 to speed up scoring was at the instigation of the broadcaster who wanted more goals so they could show more ads. But that year saw the lowest average scoring for 27 years. Coaches are smart and they have so many underlings these days to analyse all that stuff. I am about Estreeters age and slightly higher IQ and nowadays I call Aussie Rules Hybrid Football because the Aussie Rules I grew up with and loved as a game died in the late 90's/early 00's when a combination of professionalism, political correctness and the desire for the Commission to ensure that Little Johnny wasn't going to get hurt playing such a rough game has meant that it has evolved into a game for athletecs - as long as your midfielders can run 14k's in a game and do 30 20 metre sprints in about 2.1 seconds but can't kick for toffee in a set shot from 40 out straight in front thats OK. Virtually all bumps have been eradicated from the game Someone posted the AFL ad youtube with McEnroe in it and that was great but that was in the 90's. By the way these days I prefer football or soccer as it's known in some areas - about 2 rule changes in my lifetime - can't backpass to the keeper and offside now you can be level with the last defender. Perfect. Like all sports, professionalism (depending on your viewpoint) has enhanced all sports think equipment - cricket bats now look like a lump of tree - imagine Clive Lloyd or Viv batting today, golf clubs - imagine Jack Nicklaus teeing up with the soup plate drivers of these days. Running shoes - how many did fun runs in the 80's with a pair of Dunlop Volleys fresh from the tennis court. Rant Over Thanks for reading. |
