Promiscuous VEF members - catch any diseases?
I don't have a long sexual history in my 35+ years (about 6 partners and 2 hookers = 8 total). One of the reasons is an outsized fear of getting a sexually transmitted disease. Never got one, knock wood. But it seems like the dating world is getting worse by the minute regarding the proliferation of AIDS, syphillis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and a host of others nasties.
I've read lots of interesting stories here that make me seem almost chaste. I'd like to know what you do (aside from condom use and a silent prayer before the act) to avoid STDs. And if you acquired an STD, please tell how you dealt with it. |

A large part of what I did in the late 60's and 70's was work in the music industry. We had women left and right in virtually every town we went to.
The main thing I remember getting was the crabs. Pesky little buggers but not hard to get rid of. Also picked up gonorrhea at least once and maybe syphillis once or twice. No big deal either due to anti-biotics. Don't remember anything else. |

Reminds Me of the old Rogers and Hammerstein tune "How Do You solve a problem like gonorrhea ?"

Well I once caught HIV But having consulted my world renowned personal physician (Mal), he told me it was nothing more troubling than a simple game of pass the parcel. So I followed his sage advice, and quickly passed it on

kenveco68,
For sure there will be guys who read my response to your initial post, and think that I'm the crazy one. I have no doubt about that. But, my honest feeling is that your outsized fear of acquiring a sexually transmitted disease borders on the irrational. If you'd like to know what I've done to avoid STDs, well, I can tell you that I've done basically nothing as far as that goes, and I've been fairly promiscuous over the years. Yes, I use condoms - sometimes. But I've also gone without them. I've had sex with friends and lovers, as well as street-walkers. Of course, it won't surprise me when somebody here jumps all over me, calling me a complete total idiot and/or telling me I'm just lucky. And of course they might be right. < Oh, what a beautiful set-up there, huh? For sure someone will take the bait. They'll just quote that part and then say "you said it, not me" or "need I say more". Ok, very clever. But, my perspective is that generally speaking, people worry far too much about germs and the like. For example, Americans take far too many showers. Did you know that you don't need to shower every day? Especially in the winter, unless you've been working out or something. Also, when I drop food on the floor, I bend over, pick it up and eat it. I don't give it a second thought. If anything, I feel that this builds up my immune system. (George Carlin school...yes, he worked this into his comedy, but he believed these things, and l do, too. When he was a kid growing up in NYC, he swam regularly in the East River, which was basically filled with raw sewage. I wouldn't recommend that necessarily, but he never got sick). Now I'm starting to go off on a tangent, but not really - same idea. Honestly, I'm glad that I don't have your fear, and that could be another reason why I've managed to stay healthy. I mean, if you're not worried, then you're not stressed about it. It's now been shown that stress can seriously hamper our immune systems - I'm sure that's not news to anyone here. |

You have to live life. Not sit on the sidelines. And when your young you really need to be getting involved because when you get older..... it just doesn't work as well. But, hopefully, you'll always have those good memories. |

I heard it as this version:
Leprosy, All my skin is falling off of me, I'm not half the man I used to be, Oh why do I have leprosy? Syphilis, Only started with a simple kiss, Now it even hurts to take a piss, Oh why do I have syphilis? But thanks for the the HIV verse Haven't heard that part before. |

Nope. And my behavior is such these days that I'm not an ideal candidate to contract any sort of venereal disease.
I suppose I dodged some bullets. I was always a sucker for the nice girl next door types when younger. How I never became a parent is the greater surprise to me.

And you young guys (if there are any around here). Quit futzing with these damn computers and go get your own memories! When you get to our ages its too late (mostly). Go find those sweet young things that want the same as you. Screw the STD's, most of those can be easily taken care of. You're only young once! |
