So much cricket on at the moment: test series in NZ, SA and Aust just finished, ODIs and T20s. Just finished watching the 3rd test SA vs Pak. SA had the upper hand through the series and had a clean sweep.
One notable achievement I thought was Dale Steyn moving into 8th place in the all-time bowling list with 433 wickets in only 91 tests. Notable I think because is average 2nd only to Glenn McGrath and his wickets per test are better then most including McGrath, Anderson etc. Pity he seemed to have so many injuries. Incidentally, I still think his former partner Morne Morkel is still a very good bowler and was the difference in why Surrey won the County Championship last year I thought. I saw a lot of him bowling vs Yorks at Scarborough last year and he finished with 2/63 and 5/39 as Surrey won by 7 wks. Last edited by judy84; January 14th, 2019 at 01:47 PM.. |

The latest BBL game in Aust has turned the whole competition into a farce as far as I'm concerned.
In Brisbane, Sydney Thunder scored one of the highest totals so far (?) 186 in 20 overs. In reply Brisbane Heat score 10-2 in the first couple of overs losing their 2 main batsmen, the bash brothers McCallum and Lynn. So what happens, you would never guess, one of the floodlights mysteriously goes out. The umpires rule it would be too dangerous to carry on playing even though Thunder offered to bowl spinners. The match is abandoned, even with a huge crowd waiting, and the points are shared. I know Queenslanders seem to be a law unto themselves but I thought Australia was trying to clean up the win-at-any-cost reputation? Or maybe I'm just too cynical? |

I almost feel like removing every BBL post from this thread as being off topic, BBL ain't cricket IMO

Think of it this way, imagine Viv Richards playing BBL in his prime? Then you can sit there and bitch at the TV about how much better it would have been with Viv. |

England have a test match against West Indies coming up next Wednesday, to be played at Bridgetown, Barbados. But when I looked a bit closer at the fixture list I was struck by a couple of things.
What's all that about?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNV8LJX1Pms It sounds like it might not be safe for different reasons in 2019: THE police have advised that patrons will not be permitted entry with some items. These are firearms, knives, explosives, illegal drugs, walking stick-type umbrellas, large igloos, and frozen water in bottles. Licensed firearm holders have been asked to make arrangements for the safekeeping of their weapons as no provisions will be made at Sabina Park. http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/...0?profile=1373 |
