I haven't updated past 43.0.2. Too many add-ons disappear or go wonky or are no longer compatible.
Check other posts about IHG, DtA troubles. Seems FF is getting less and less supported. If it ain't broken, don't try and fix it. My opinion anyway. |

Firefox
My FF 47 developed problems last night on spare laptop with Vista & when I found the same version to d/l, the program told me it wouldn't install because of the Vista, so I just gave up and had to find the files & delete them, because the un-installer wouldn't even work. So I'm done with Fire Fox on this computer. They wasted about 2 + hours of my time last night.
If I find something better on my new Dell Desktop/Win 10, I'll bounce them off the Dell also!!! ( I'm tired of this obsoleting everything by these software people to to jack me for more $$$; the Dell episode cost me $1300+ last month!!!) |

I've got 48.0.1, and there is no update.
PS: I found 48.0.2 on the website. Installed. No problems to report.

Theres something here about a new version being released but then being stopped
Article Name Mozilla to enable updates to Firefox 48 again Mozilla plans to release a hotfix for Firefox 40 to 47 on Windows that enables updates again if Websense software is not detected. Author By Martin Brinkmann on August 31, 2016 Publisher Ghacks Technology News If you are running Firefox Stable on Windows machines, you may have noticed that the browser did not receive the update to version 48 up until now. Mozilla released Firefox 48 on August 2 for all platforms, but stopped distribution of the new version for Windows shortly thereafter. Mozilla's reason for stopping the distribution of Firefox 48 for Windows was an incompatibility of the program version with Websense products. The product mentioned explicitly in the context is Websense Endpoint. The organization published two bug fix releases for Firefox 48 to resolve the issue, but users were still reporting issues after installing the latest Firefox 48 version if Websense was installed on the computer as well. The main issue for non-Websense users of Firefox was that their version of the browser was stuck at an earlier version. Mozilla fixed several security issues in Firefox 47. Not upgrading Firefox to version 48.x meant that the browser remained vulnerable to those security issues. The only way around the issue was to download and install the latest stable version of the Firefox web browser manually on Windows. Theres a download link at the bottom in closing words to make sure your using the latest version which ever that is http://www.ghacks.net/2016/08/31/moz...efox-48-again/ Last edited by buttsie; September 1st, 2016 at 12:30 AM.. Not Pleased!
2 days ago my IHG stopped working. Didn't know why. This morning I just realized my FF43 is now 48.0.2. I know I did not request update because too many things I like disappeared after v 43. I didn't want the updates but here it is. Now a lot of my add-ons disabled because of that darn signing add-on feature. Don't know how it happened.
Not pleased. Trying to find v 43 to re-install. |

I did find it this morning from that site. It's a FF archive site. Thanks for the confirmation.
Anyway, back in business. IHG working except I have to update some host files like someimage which, has become routine. Side note - checked my download update history and there it is, Oct 24 v 48 was downloaded and updated. Have no idea how as I didn't request it. Maybe I clicked something by accident? Yikes?!? Quote:

FF updates have been a bit strange of late. Mine got stuck on 47.0.1 such that 'About Firefox' said it was up to date, but the add on checker said it was not. i can't help thinking it's got too complex now.
Regards 40+
