Moolighting was a great show,
I think it's best episode was The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice In black and white, and pure class

Justified season 3 episode 5: "Thick As Mud" The previous episode sees Dickie Bennett & Dewey Crowe get busted out of prison, Dickie is after $3M of his Mothers' family business drugs money. Dewey, the most clueless white-supremacist low-life in Kentucky, gets taken by the male hospital nurse who worked with the bent prison-guard Ash to bust them out of prison. Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens is keeping tracks of Dickie, he knows why & what he broke-out for, but knowing that Dewey also escaped and is lying low.., Dewey isn't smart enough to do that. We then see Dewey being awoken in a bath stained with his own blood 2 large incisions in his upper abdomen, & is told he can buy back his kidneys for $20,000. With hours before his body fills with toxins, the spasms his muscles will inflict on his body when they contract can break bones, a horrendous way to die. He's set on his way & given the number of a motel room to be at in four hours and set on his way, Dewey heads straight for the nearest white goods retailer & robs them but they only have $300 "everyone spends on credit cards these days". So he heads for the nearest strip-joint and at eleven in the morning, is again coming-up short when the whole bar is held to gun-point, the bar owner thinks he's just desperate for drugs. Raylan goes to the Hospital where Ash, the Guard who was beaten-up in the release is on a morphine drip. He sets the dispensary button out of reach and asks more questions about the break-out, leaning on the guys leg to remind him of the urgency Raylan already has his answers and the pretty nurse who interrupted his coercion, tells him about the condition a person might find themselves in if they had their kidneys removed. Meantime Dewey has attempted another stick-up and the hapless redneck gets a leg-full of buck-shot for blaspheming once too often to the store owner. In the excitement, he shuffled swiftly & blindly straight into the shops' store room Raylan does some negotiating through the door and Dewey, now melodramatic explains how "this is the end of days for Dewey Crowe". Raylan sets him straight, If you had your kidneys taken out you won't be able to pee, go take a leek... (gif) For an episode revolving about such unpleasant business as stripping a human body for spare parts, "Thick as Mud" has a robust sense of humour about it. One of the quips between Raylan and the former prison guard, Raylan asks what he knows about kidneys? His reply, “Well I know they’re the Cadillac of beans.” I chose this episode as it almost could be a stand-alone story & each season relies on a much bigger plot-line Anyhooch After sniffing around a bit, Raylan comes to suspect the cute nurse he chatted up earlier, that she knows more than she’s letting on, so he decides to drop by her house unannounced. Sure enough, she is the partner of the kidney-monger and they plan to make some extra by organ-stripping their way to the East-coast. Raylan smooth-talks his way into the nurses' house but while sharing a whiskey, Ash the organ-grinder gets the drop on him and pumps Raylan full of sedative, choosing to harvest his parts since he’s got to kill the Marshal anyway, he drags the sedated Raylan to the bath & prepares to go to work on him. She has a change of mind now the law is so close and shoots Ash, he falls on top of Raylan into the bath. She's about to shoot the woosy Marshal but fortunately the gun stuffed down the back of Ash pants shoots through him and into her. (gif) She falls back looking at her blood, "I can't believe you shot me" "Neither can I", he replies. Later the paramedics are working on Raylan as he sums-up to Art, his Boss. "She was surprised when I shot her" ... he continues "I was surprised too" Art asks, "What, that you shot her? coz you never shot a woman before?" Raylan gives a look, still dazed from the tranqus, that he wanted to get into her, not his bullet Justified (S3 E5) "Thick As Mud" Possibly available in Your country? but sadly not here in the UK http://justified.wikia.com/wiki/Justified_Wiki

I can't yet say what my favorite episode is yet, even though I have the box set, I'm yet to see the final season, so for now all I can say is the opening scene for the series where Givens shot the gun thug in Florida sold the show to me

I have the same box E
I believe that the pilot episode is basicly Elmore Leonards' original short story "Fire In The Hole" (the cry given by Boyd when he bazookas a church is a call-back to the days he & Raylan spent working in the mines of Harlan), which inspired the Producers & Directors to elaborate on the character of Raylan Givens & make the series. Season 6, I found it's a bit tamer than previous ones, but just as well written & non the less for the inevitable tying-up some loose ends. Do yourself a biggie & set some time aside mate The scene that Estreeter described ... https://youtu.be/6vNRZCLgxng?t=14s

Frasier season 2 episode 7. The Candidate
Probably one of the funniest episodes ever written I watched in my life.
Frasier Crane publicly gives his support to the Congress candidate Phil Patterson... until this last one tells to Frasier that he was ... link following, click on it. Frasier - The Candidate - Phil Patterson Commercial The first time I watched this show, I laughed laughed laughed... I felt so embarrased for one of my favorite "arrogant" and "self-sufficient" heroes. |
