I watched it too, but I was a little disappointed by it. I found the minor historical characters more interesting - Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, Arnold Rothstein, Meyer Lansky. The Jimmy character was just too dull. And I thought that Buscemi has really done better work.

It's still worth watching, though. Great to see Gretchen Mol pursuing the two pillars of her acting career, period pieces and nudity. There's a great scene where Rothstein sends Luciano to Atlantic City to get revenge on Jimmy and he winds up in bed with Gretchen. "I'm with his wife," he gloats to Arnold on the phone. "No you're not," Rothstein replies, "you're with his mother."

Waterloo Road starts again tomorrow so looking forward to that-won National TV Award for Best Drama last week, and I hope this Outcasts lives up to its exciting-looking trailer as the BBC makes another foray into science-fiction-last year's offering, a remake of Survivors was good but disappointing.

I also saw the documentary on him. He was always one of my fave tv personalities, and is sadly missed.

One thing that maybe of interest, is that, did you know, he provided voices in the 1966 film "THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO." He provided the voice of Zero X navigator Brad Newman and also the voice of the compere in the Swinging Star nightclub (Alan Tracy's dream sequence.)
Another thing that maybe of interest, in connection with the Supermarionation shows of the 60's, is that the 1967 Christmas edition of "The Golden Shot", which Bob hosted, had "Captain Scarlet" as the shows' theme. Targets representing the Angel Interceptors, the Mysteron City, etc. The hostesses (Anne Aston & Carol Dilworth) were dressed in Angel pilot uniforms, and the pop group, The Spectrum (who provided the classic full vocal version of the closing credits theme song to the series) provided the music, dressed in their Spectrum Captain uniforms.
This was a live show, and sadly, no copies of it on videotape (or any other recording medium) exist.

Just watched Horizon - "Science Under Attack" (on BBC iPlayer). Recommended ... if only to see an absolute knob of a journalist physically squirming!

Rockford Files on RTV; just rediscovered my antenna and our new all digital airwaves make it that much better. Also Magnum PI every night at 11 if a good episode is on.

Really like Rockford files as long as Angel is not in the episode.

In the uk we have a new channel called sky atlantic. I watched the large first episode of ER earlier. I think it was as brilliant as i remember as a teen. The scene i remembered was when dr green gave carter advice when he was feeling sick outside. Thats an amazingly rememerable scene. You could forget the rest of what happened but that will stay with you. It did me anyway.
