Deadpool 2 (2018)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5463162/

Saw it on the big screen when it first came out and now I have the Blu Ray, what a cracking film full of action, comic book in-jokes and humour, where else would you see a mass slaying of yakuza gangsters to the tune of Enya's Caribbean Blue and the hilariously disastrous parachute jump of X-Force to the and Juggernaut has just broken free out of the convoy after the second set piece battle with Cable.
Deadpool has just asked Colossus for help and we are fast heading towards the end battle ..... brilliant stuff for an unapologetic comic book geek and the ending sets up a possible future Cable & Deadpool movie

The end title credits sequences are perfectly timed and fit in with the tone of the movie and holy shitballs ... that final song

Q - The Winged Serpent (1982)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084556/

New York cops Richard Roundtree and David Carradine are investigating a series of murders of a seemingly ritual murder, there are also sightings of a strange flying creature.
Jimmy Quinn (Michael Moriarty) is a small time crook who gets roped into a diamond robbery, on the run from the law he goes into the Chrysler Building trying to find his lawyer, whilst hiding inside he finds the lair of the creature and realises he may be able to earn a pardon and some money from the law by keeping his secret for the time being.

Superb 80's monster fun from Larry Cohen

Not sure what was the point of this movie.

I didn't much care for the story.

The 2 things I came away with after watching it which I've already knew beforehand:

do not work for the U.S. Government's C.I.A.

To them you are nothing but an expendable asset.

When they don't need your services anymore, they will murder you or abandon you to a death situation that's very difficult for anyone to get out of alive.

The CIA has done so many times in real life:

it's not something that's made up in the movies.

Also do not work for the Mexican Cartels.

Their employee's retirement plan is also like the CIA's: not very attractive.

2/5
Sicario 2015

Incredibly boring.
One among the worst films I've watched in my life.
Maybe it's because I've watched quite a lot of criminal films.
After 53 minutes I thought : "But what is the goal of this film ? To last 5 more hours before to get the story ending."

Nothing happened. A pure waste of time.

2/10

2 it's for the picture. The pictures are beautiful.

Obviously, the version of Sicario I watched was different to this one! Hard, gritty and fairly believable. Emily Blunt was really good in the part and if you've ever crossed the border from California into Mexico, or for that matter simply watched Breaking Bad or the US version of The Bridge, you'll connect to this movie right away and know what things are actually like in this part of the world.

8/10 and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

BTW, this movie is just over 2 hours, not 5hrs 53m.

Thumbs up

The Double Man (1967)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061594/

A complicated cold war espionage thriller set in the Austrian Alps involving CIA and Russian agents.

If the sweeping aerial snow capped, snow laden skiing sequences look somewhat familiar, it's because the cameraman for this film is also the same cameraman who would go on to film the skiing sequences in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969).

This film is also actress Britt Ekland's second major movie role, she will go on to become a Bond Girl in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974).

This was one of the many 60's movies that were James Bond copies and it's also one of the better ones - featuring a tight, complex plot and decent action sequences.

The Predator... oh, dear... that was just crap. Characterisation was non-existent, plot was laughably bad, the action mundane... dearie me. Very, very disappointing.

Trailer.

ITV 4 have been showing the Rocky films this week.

I’ve been watching “Rocky 3” tonight and remembering my mum!

She absolutely loved boxing and I can still recall her telling me repeatedly how crap these films were!

Brave. My grandson enjoyed it, but I wanted to give Merida a kick up the Khyber.

I am watching this.

Johnny English (2003)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274166/

I have never seen this before.

This is hilarious!!

The Brits sure have a strange sense of humour.

This is funnier than those Austin Powers movies.

After the first one, the novelty and freshness kind of wore off.

Seriously!

How many times can you laugh at Austin saying "Do I make you Horny Baby?" or "Shall we shag now or shag later?" for the gazillion times?

It got old already after the 3rd or 4th time!!

Gosh!

The poor girl!

Someone unlucky bloddy bloke must help her!

Prom Night (1980)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081383/

Six years ago 4 youngsters harass another young girl causing her to fall to her death.
The local police suspect a local offender and in the ensuing chase his car crashes and burst into flames, badly disfigured he is sent to prison but escapes just before prom night, police suspect he is heading back to town for revenge but on whom?
Lots of red herrings and some annoying disco scenes, not a classic by any means but it spawned a series of sequels.
