Red face Format, smilies etc....

Hi folks, I apologize in advance, as this seems to be something wrong with my computer, but being a non-starter where computers are concerned, I am hoping that some of our learned members might have some ideas. Here goes.... I noticed yesterday when sending a private message, that smilies and page format tools were not working. They are not today either. I cannot use smilies, or different fonts, colours, or any of the tools on the page. I did post a post earlier today using IE., and all the tools worked fine with that, but not with Firefox unfortunately. I did un-install Firefox and re-install it, but that hasn't helped. If anybody has any great ideas, I'm all ears.....and I'd be very grateful ( normally I'd insert a smiley face and a thumbs -up here, but I can't!). PS. As you can see, the smilies (post icons) on show under the text box do work. but not those to the side or above! PPS. I now notice that all the paragraph spacing has gone to Hell as well! :-(

Try it now. I changed your setting to standard editor.... for some reason the Wysiwyg option is causing problems lately

Thanks Jenny,

Well, (I would have inserted smiley face here), alas no. It's still not working, though a post I have just put up in the 'did you know' thread did separate into paragraphs! :-)

Thanks for all and any help!

Make sure that JavaScript is enabled, otherwise clicking on the icons in the message editor has no effect. But it is also possible to insert smilies via typing in their BBCode, unless "Disable smilies in text" is checked under "Additional Options".

rustler,

Also check to make sure, if you're using NoScript in Firefox, that you're allowing the VEF script. That stuff may not work if you don't allow the script.

Just an idea.

Many, many thanks for the tip!

I have eventually managed to download Palemoon and install it on my computer. So far so good! It works differently from IE or Firefox, but it seems to work. So for that I am extremely grateful.

Thankyou again for the useful tip, I'd never heard of Palemoon before!

Thankyou to you all for your help with this, it is very much appreciated!

Now I can again get my daily 'fix' of VEF

Regards,

Rustler

In the words of Victor Meldrew,'I caaaant beieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve it!'

As of last night all the editing functions on the forum are for me, again, no longer working!
They worked fine yesterday morning, but suddenly not in the afternoon.

Nothing on my computer has changed, and the computer hadn't been turned off or anything, it just decided not to work properly.

Don't you just hate computers...... ( I would insert 'angry' face here, but can't!)

Oh well.......

Thankyou for that NIN! (inserts 'thumbs up'!)

As you can see typing in Colon and right bracket worsk. However, that still unfortunately doesn't solve BOLD, Italics, Underlined, left hand , centre, right hand , colours etc.etc.etc.

As you and retroanalyst mention, I can use the smilies like this , but the other stuff? And I have no idea what causes this, which is a little more worrying.

BTW. yes everybody elses smiles show up fine!
