Old porn was amateurish, but that, to me was some of the appeal. However, I remember some commentator saying that the biggest change came when video tape superceded film. Film was expensive so the directors had to know in advance what they wanted to do. With video tape and now digital recording they just make it up as they go along. If it doesn't work they tape over it. So the way of working was more professional back then. More thought went into the finished product.

Was watching some older porn the other day and I was astounded by the difference. Modern porn seems to be made up of a bunch of twisted guys and a bunch of twisted women. It makes me sad to see these trends in porn. The golden age of porn for me was the stuff coming out of California in the 80s, and while there was a definite focus on what males want to see, it was more or less normal sex. Okay, sometimes with multiple partners (and in the case of Sorority Sex Kittens 2, there was a 25 girl orgy...), but there didn't seem to be any hatred for womankind in the movies. It was visual but sexy in a 'let's show people fucking' kind of way, and not 'let's teach this bitch a lesson'.
