Had one of my favorites tonight

Leftover BBQ hamburgers

And I stuff it full of sour cabbage salad

I see many posts on favorite savory foods. What about sweets? I love pie in it's many forms: apple, cherry, blueberry, pumpkin, key lime, banana cream and my all-time favorite, mincemeat. I'm almost 49 years old and I still love Jell-O. As long as there are no nuts involved, brownies, banana bread, carrot cake and ice cream are always welcome. And my sister makes the best chocolate chip cookies since our grandmother, and grandma passed almost 30 years ago.

I've aleady told the warden what I want for my final meal:

2 lb Basket of Steamers
2 lb Maine Lobster
endless butter; not drawn though
Key lime Pie with whipped cream

Pink grapefruit and avocado salad: recipe I got from here:

You will need:

One pink grapefruit
One ripe avocado pear
Chilli oil to taste
Salt and pepper to taste

Very simple recipe. BTW, clean hands for this one: don't do it if you've just changed the oil in your car.

You peel the grapefruit with a sharp knife, over a bowl to catch the juice. Cut out the segments individually and put them in your serving dish. Squeeze all the juices out of the peel and the remnants of the fruit into the bowl.

Cut the avocado pear in half lengthwise, removing the stone. Cut each half legthwise into three or four pieces. The skin peels off very easily and cleanly after you have cut the pear up. The pieces go in with the grapefruit segments.

Whisk/stir the grapefruit juice in with a small amount of chilli oil and some salt and pepper to make a dressing. Chilli oil sounds disgusting in this context but try it: it works. The recipe calls for some rocket leaves to go with the salad but I hate rocket (give me iceberg lettuce any day) so I just never bother.

If its a starter, thats enough for three or four people. If its a snack, I eat the lot, being greedy. It's healthy, surprisingly filling, and takes 3 minutes.

AWESOME - two of my favourite things in a meal together - I'd never have thought it was a viabe blend.

As for other 'favourite' - its generally about seafood for me - had an awesome blue cod Friday night at a local restaurant.

Also - waiting patiently for them being in season again so I can feast on whitebait fritters to glorious excess...
