Here in Britain we stupidly eradicated the only predator the fox had, the wolf. The EU have said that countries should re-introduce species that have been erradicated and I agree with them for once.

Re introduce Wolves ? Predators rarely prey on each other,It would most likely be sheep, cattle that would be taken.They might kill domestic pets,perhaps even children and old people,it used to be a big problem in France,That's where all the werewolf stories come from.

Wolves need space and, if possible, no people and plenty of large deer

Despite a population of 50 million in an area of 50,000 square miles there is still enough land for wolves in England.

Is the mainland of England only 50mil?Thats why I questioned China as being able to grow enough crops for its burgeoning populace.Remember you cannot grow crops or house masses of people on mountains, or do the same for crops in deserts.True for animals or people, you need airable land,not to mention the most precious resource,water.Not all places have to close by.

It is true though, you eradicate a predidtor from an area,its prey will flourish at an very rapid rate.

Yes Englands (NOT Britains) population is 50 million. But there are some very unspoilt and remote areas.

Rustler - here in the UK there is enough food for fit wild foxes to prosper and they tend to keep well away from humans. The ones that get close in (in the country at least) are the ones no longer able to fend for themselves. When a fox is in a chicken run the hens panic and the fox joins in the panic and kills. It's not pleasure just a reaction to what's happening around it. I saw the results of such an attack. A chicken run literally splattered in blood and the carcasses of three foxes shot when the farmer went out to make sure that it wasn't going to happen again.
