With icy fingers and frozen hands they made it to become the first Super Bowl champions.
You're confused, beemerider500.
The game you're describing was the 1967 NFL championship game, played on 31 December 1967. It was the Green Bay Packers vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Game-time temperature at Lambeau Field was about −15 °F (−26 °C), with an average wind chill around −48 °F (−44 °C).

The winning team (Packers) went on to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in the first Super Bowl, in Los Angeles, CA two weeks later.

Bill Buckner has passed away, He had over 2700 hits in a 22-year MLB career, but will always be best remembered for the ground ball that went past him in game 6 of the 1986 World Series.

As a Dodgers and Buckner fan, being remembered for the ball going through his legs always kind of pissed me off.

I get it, but it irritated me because he was the National League batting champion in 1980 with the Chicago Cubs, and like Ennath said, had 2700 hits and was an All-Star player, who gave his all.

But just as Fred Merkle was remembered for his base-running boner in the 1908 and Jim Marshall for running the wrong way for a safety after recovering a fumble, Buckner will be the guy that cost Boston the World Series in 1986.

I think the fact it happened on live, national TV had a lot to do with that.

RIP Billy Buck. You were way better than that error.

Again...…
He first left this world on the 17th, so I have a hard time seeing him passing away again.
