Today I learned my court date has been pushed out to Nov. 4th. Gives me 6 more weeks to get the green beast smog certified. Next on list: Reverse catalytic converter to utilize the fresher side closer to sensor. I'm all about doubling the pleasure...two boobs...two buns...two u-turns to prove I was right in the first place.

I mean really joking about that magic elixer that's just the max
A Drip Tease like that sounds like it would go really well with something, but I've forgotten what.

Makes me question the whole micro brewery movement.

Q: What is the difference between a striptease and a driptease?

A: A striptease is about getting to nothing, while a driptease is about already being there.

Goal was to extend the life of the cat without resorting to expressly prohibited means. Good point about directionality. Some cats have arrows which would point to any cheap-bastard mischief. Still researching if one-way cats work in both directions or if the arrow is simply because they're designed to only fit a particular way. Appreciate the reminder about the simulators.

What kind of car is it? I'm not 100 percent sure of the core but most cats tend to flow in each direction the actual element might choke down as it goes to one end so it burns the unspent gasses. One of the guys I work with punched out converters in his lex is-f and got an ecm simulator for 150 bucks!

Dropped52, can you clarify what you meant by 'punched out converters'?

I now have CELs (check engine light) on both cars, a Nissan 3.5L and a Toyota 3.3L. Was late to the gate to find out this is usually an emissions problem, so I paid the guy at the corner station $40 for a smog check just to tell me he failed me due to the light. If he was honest, he would have told me before he took my money since the light was on as soon as he put the key in the car. He pretended to be honest by telling me he would check me again for free within one week if I got the issue resolved. Problem is, you need approx. 2 weeks of clean data after the light resets in order to not flag the computer and get another fail.

Learned too many smog check stations take your money while knowing ahead of time they're going to fail you (instead of giving you a courtesy 'heads up'). Looking forward to repaying this dishonest guy with a bad review on yelp...if he doesn't give me that free re-check when the car is actually capable of passing.

Punched out meaning the core of the catalytic converter has been removed. So if both cars have the same issue with a bad cat and your trying to pass emissions the flip won't work. Usually Toyota 3.3 is directional, on top of that disassembly and reassembly can kill o2 sensors. I've done several Lexus 3.3 cats, banks one and 2. Do the cars have p0420/p0430 codes? If so then the sad news is you need to just bite the bullet and replace.

I'm heading back to my favorite parts store this week to re-check the codes. Had no idea you were so familiar with the issues facing my RX330 and Quest. Thanks for the guidance. Do you do house calls on the west coast?
