Auction find: a slightly scuffed-up negative. The auction site claims this is from “1966” but more likely, it dates from 1967 or even 1968, when Sue Ane was on a promotional tour for the 1967 movie “A Man Called Dagger.” In her interview in Tom Lisanti’s book “Drive-In Dream Girls” Sue mentioned that

“My hair in this film was all different colors. The dog was a white West Highland Terrier and they used vegetable dye on it to match all the streaks in my hair. I did a promo tour for the film with my dog ‘of many colors.’ While in New York City people would walk up to me and say, ‘Oh, the poor thing,’ as if the colors were hurting her . . . for gosh sake, it washed right out!”

Naked side boob shots from “A Man Called Dagger”.

I’ve never been able to get a good-quality copy of this film (I tried to order one once from a seller on eBay but it turned out to be a scam). However, someone posted a montage of short clips set to the movie score that includes this flash-moment just after she whips off her top while fencing with the protagonist and steps behind a partition.

The color balance is different from the rest of the lo-res movie or of the trailer that one sees posted on the web, so maybe this brief side boob shot was cut from the final print of the movie?

Here’s Sue Ane, age 25, in 1961’s “The Great Imposter” with Tony Curtis—who famously bragged (as mentioned earlier in this thread), in his autobiography, that he had “Slept with every one of his leading ladies except Jack Lemon.” Did he have a poke at Sue Ane? Must have been a delight, if so…
