The ongoing risky rescue operation in Thailand. I pray that all of those kids get out safe.

Any objection by mods if I put up a thread here talking about the chat channels like Babestation? Was advised to ask ya first, but you know me I don't make many threads these days, just thought as I'd mentioned it so many times would like to,gauge what people thought, perhaps those that rings them. Cheers.

David Davis has just resigned!

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/98...it-Theresa-May

Seems as if May is now in very serious trouble.

Tomorrow will be interesting. May's proposals are a lash-up at best and probably unworkable. This really is a terrible state of affairs and someone who knows what they are doing must step in and take over.

Were the European countries better or worse before the E.U.?

I was born in Italy to Italian parents.

I lived in Rome from 1965 to 1977 when we came to the USA.

Of course I was a kid back then so I didn't know anything and couldn't tell you if things were better then or better now.

Sure it's convenient to have one single currency and open borders where you don't have to show your Italian Passport to go across the border into France or Switzerland, but are things better under the E.U.?

Great Britain must had known the E.U. was not good since they kept the Great British Pound and refused to adapt the Euro.

Davis resigned? Oh good he was bloody useless anyway and that is the second time he has cocked up things and left the Cabinet. You'd think they would get the hint by now how crap he was.

We probably already had the best deal possible - what with all the opt-outs and rebates we secured. That can never be reproduced.

There was a time I traveled to Europe a great deal on business and would always try to avoid flying there through Heathrow and connecting with flight from there to other E.U. countries.

Or even spending a day or two or three in London was something I would try to avoid.

Having to carry both the Euro and the GBP was annoying and also, everything was more expensive in London.

A basic hotel room was about $250-300 a night and I ain't talking about a 4-5 stars hotel, this was about 2009.

Now I just looked and it's even higher, as high as $500 a night for a basic room.

I remember paying 22 GBP for a sandwich and a non alcoholic drink at lunch during one of my 2 days stops in London in 2008.

That's about $29 U.S.D.

My sister and my brother went to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

They tried to get me to join them.

I said count me out!

It's already so expensive there and I bet they doubled, tripled, quadrupled the prices on everything for the Olympics.

The best possible deal "within" the EU and those deals and opts out were negotiated because of strong leadership, something we really need right now..

Read May's reply
The direct effect of EU law will end when we leave the EU. Where the UK chooses to apply a common rulebook, each rule will have to be agreed by Parliament. Choosing not to sign up to certain rules would lead to consequences for market access, security co-operation or the frictionless border, but that decision will rest with our sovereign Parliament, which will have a lock on whether to incorporate those rules into the UK legal order.

Sounds good in principle but
We have made a significant move: it is for the EU now to respond in the same spirit.

What if the EU want more?
Has she the balls to emulate Captain Picard
