Another three weeks or so before We can bring Him home

English Springer Spaniel. While as of this writing I haven't owned a dog, I came across this breed about 20 years ago when I was invited over for Thanksgiving weekend to my brother-in-law's parents' place. Rosie was very eager to please and meet my acquaintance as per the breed's temperament, so much so that I actually spent quite a bit of time with her that weekend, probably more so than with anyone else.

What was so cool about her? The following year when I got invited over again, she remembered me! When we walked into the front door, she excitedly zipped past my sister and brother-in-law (and they were the ones that'd make semi-regular visits, not just for Thanksgiving), and leapt onto me!

Subsequent Thanksgivings or other visits were similar. Sadly she passed several years later due to illness, but those first few years she treated me like family. I was her "go to" person if she wanted some pampering, or to go for a walk/run, or just have some play time. She'd come up to me and politely tap me with her paw, and I usually could tell what she wanted based on her body language or direction of the house she was going.

Here's my Labrador when he was a pup. Pictures taken a year ago.

Forgot to mention. His name is Claude. Not my choice. It was the name given to him by the owners of his parents and I didn't want to change it.
