As far as actresses are concerned, I believe it is a matter of whether nudity is appropriate in the situation of the scene. Depends on the actress, their image & the types of movies they do.
I think nudity effects the career less if you do a large variety of work.

Jessica Chastain for example has had a fairly consistently strong career since it hit the big time with Zero Dark Thirty/The Help (major films include interstellar, the martian, dark phoenix, huntsman 2, crimson peak, IT chapter 2) and that is without any kinda specific image/typecasting.

She started her carrier with with tons of nudity in Jolene & Salome. And then did moderate nudity later in her career with Lawless & The Zookeepers Wife.

But my experience working in the industry years ago was that people, men as well as women, trying to break into acting can't be picky about their roles. Not if they want a career.
