I met the King of Norway ( Harald V ) when he visited the military base i served at when i did my 19 month mandatory military service in 2001-2002.

There are numerous others without the photographic proof, but perhaps I'm most proud of getting hand-written letters from Peter Gabriel and Bill James when I invited them to a party in 1984.

Many years back ...(1994 if I remember correctly!) ...I attended a lecture at Surrey University given by Alan Shepard. He gave a long, very interesting talk about his mission to the moon ...(he was the guy that took a golf ball to the moon, gave it a whack, and probably holds the record for the longest drive!!) ....he was promoting his book “Moon Shot” which was co-written by Deke Slayton ....(he and Shepard have since passed) ..It was a fascinating lecture and I was fortunate to have a very quick chat with him afterwards and shake his hand. Very brave guys those astronauts....always makes me laugh when idiots say “The moon landings were all a hoax faked by NASA” ....hilarious!!

Most of you will never have heard of a European phone-in channel called Eurotic TV.

Yet I have personally met a few of the girls who worked there - Kia and Dessita (not, of course their real names except that they actually share the same real Christian name). Two others are personal (non-sexual) friends and I have never shared their names.

Even so, pride of place goes to Joanne Guest with whom I shared (with 10 others) a curry at an Indian in deepest Newbury some years ago on the occasion of her 29th birthday.

My Mum reliably informs me.

In '69 in the house that he shared with Mary Finnigan in Beckenham, SE London.

My Mum had been at Ealing Art School with Finnigan and was visiting having not seen her for a few years.

They apparently went for a wander in the garden and left me with this strange bloke (hey, it was the '60s!) and, as 3 month old babies are apt to do, I disgraced myself in the trouser department and, ever the progressive, enlightened chap that he was, with the ladies absent he simply did 'the honours'.
