One thing that always bothered me about Playboy was all of the contortions they would have the model go into to try and hide her pussy. Some of the poses are so blatantly unnatural as to be almost laughable. Or the props they would use to cover up her pussy. As if, in real life, some woman is going to sit in front of you, totally naked, legs open, but have a shawl or towel covering her pussy.


I know in the later years...say 90s onward...Playboy resorted to airbrushing the models to cover up any imperfections...moles, pimples, whatever. That may have been going on before the 90s, I just don't know if they did or not. If you look at the later models, as opposed to the earlier ones, you can tell difference in their skin.

The magazine was always renowned for the high caliber of the airbrushing work, almost from the start. Air brushing has always been a key component of 20th century illustrated magazine. Very few photos would not be air brushed; some of this would be because of the requirements of printing but often it was to create the "reality" the publishers wanted their audiences to see. Of course, there's this too.

I wasn't referring to the airbrushing of photos, I was talking about the airbrushing of the model before pics are taken. They put make up in an airbrush, and paint the model with it, just like you would paint a car with an airbrush.

Airbrush make-up techniques have been around for a long time so it's likely that PB, which for a long time represented the state of the art for this kind of photography, used that technique for most of its history.

They can't have. If you look back you see tan lines on some...a lot...of their models. If those models had make up applied by air brush, there wouldn't be any tan lines. Also, if you look at some of the earlier models...60s and 70s for example...you can see moles and freckles on some. Those can't have been air brushed either.

Anything after 2000 is actually a turn off for me. Not only did they start airbrushing everything to the point of absurdity {The Lohan One Thigh is hilarious}, they stopped using girl next door types and went supermodel. Playboy was the original Girl next door and they walked away from that.

The January 1955 centerfold was a very cute photo by Bunny Yeager of Bettie Page decorating a Christmas tree. But they could have chosen one of these other photos from Yeager's portfolio.
