One of the world's leading harpsichordists, Zuzana Ruzickova, who survived three Nazi concentration camps including Auschwitz, has died aged 90. Mrs Ruzickova passed away in a Prague hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Despite living in totalitarian communist Czechoslovakia, she had a breakthrough in 1956 when she won a major international music composition. Becoming an acclaimed global musician, she was best known for her interpretations of Bach. Born to a Jewish family in then-Czechoslovakia in 1927, Mrs Ruzickova told the BBC in December that her love of music helped her survive the war. "I was not a strong child, but I was in love with music from the beginning," she said. She had to stop studying music after the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia in 1939.

Mrs Ruzickova's family were then deported to the Theresienstadt (Terezin) labour camp in 1942. Her grandparents and her father later died in the camp, along with tens of thousands of other Jewish inmates. The teenager was then transported to Auschwitz, and later forced to carry out slave labour in Hamburg before being moved to Bergen-Belsen. After the war she returned to her native Czechoslovakia with her gravely ill mother. Her hands were badly damaged during her three-year ordeal. But she told the BBC that she practised the piano for 12 hours a day to make up for lost time. • The 'miraculous' life of Zuzana Ruzickova Despite being under repressive surveillance upon her return, she was allowed by the government to perform at competitions and concerts around the world because she became a lucrative source of foreign currency for the state. Between 1965 and 1975 she became the first person to record Bach's complete works for keyboard.

Mrs Ruzickova had to stop performing in public in 2006 at the age of 79. Her husband, composer Viktor Kalabis, died the same year. In her final years was unable to play at all because of nerve damage from cancer and chemotherapy treatment. A documentary about her life was released earlier this year.

She was born in 1927 in the then Czecho-Slovakia to Jewish parents. Music was her life long passion & she later claimed that it was that love for music that helped her to stay alive during the war.
her education was halted by the Nazi occupation of Czecho-Slovakia, & she was later interned in more than one concentration camp including Auschwitz. In which was lucky to have survived although some of her family didn't. As well as forced march to Bergen-Belsen.
After the war she returned to her homeland with her mother who she cared for & also played the piano for twelve hours a day to make up all of the time that her horrific ordeal had forced her to miss.
Even though she remained in Czecho-Sovakia during the Communist era she was under the suspicion of the authorities. Although they did allow her to travel abroad & take part in international competitions. Primarily because she was popular with international audiences & therefore generated much needed hard currency that the communist regime were only to glad to get their hands on.
Between 1965 & 1975 She became the first person to record all of Bach's work on keyboard.
Earlier this her her husband the composer Viktor Kalabis also passed away.
Zuzana had to retire from music in 2006 because of damage to her nerves caused by chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

A writer who became notorious for peddling "fake news" during the 2016 US election campaign has died at 38. Paul Horner was found dead in his bed in Laveen, Arizona, on 18 September, after a suspected drug overdose, officials said. Horner, who published fraudulent articles on Facebook and websites he set up, claimed he was the reason Donald Trump was elected in November. Fake news was a major concern during and after the US presidential campaign. A surge of made-up stories has been accused by some of influencing the outcome of the vote.

Among Horner's creations was a false claim that former President Barack Obama was both gay and a radical Muslim. Mr Trump's son Eric, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, posted one of Horner's fake news items about protesters being paid $3,000 to demonstrate against the Republican candidate. Many of Horner's sites, such as newsexaminer.net, had names falsely suggesting legitimacy.

"There's a lot of humour and comedy in it," he told CNN in December. "I do it to try to educate people. I see certain things wrong in society that I don't like and different targets." His brother Jj Horner posted on Facebook that he had died in his sleep at his mother's house, describing the writer as "an internet wizard, a humanitarian, an activist, a philosopher, a comedian". A Maricopa County sheriff's office spokesman, Mark Casey, later confirmed the death and said an autopsy had shown no signs of foul play. He said Horner had a history of prescription drug abuse and that "evidence at the scene suggested this could be an accidental overdose".

After coming under pressure, sites such as Facebook have been working with US investigators to track down the authors of misinformation on the internet and establish whether they aimed to sway voters. In an interview with the Washington Post in November, Horner said: "I think Trump is in the White House because of me. "My sites were picked up by Trump supporters all the time... His followers don't fact-check anything - they'll post everything, believe anything." But asked whether he targeted fake news at Hillary Clinton's supporters to help her rival, he answered: "No. I hate Trump."

Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner has died at age 91, Playboy Enterprises announced late Wednesday.

The company said Hefner peacefully passed away on Wednesday from natural causes at his home, the Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 9, 1926, in Chicago Hefner was widely recognized with helping usher in the sexual revolution with the creation of Playboy magazine. According to Biography.com, Hefner raised $8,000 from 45 investors—including $2,000 from his mother and brother combined—to launch Playboy magazine. It turned out to be a smart gamble. Hefner transformed the adult entertainment industry beginning with the very first issue, which featured Marilyn Monroe.
Over the years the magazine expanded into a multimillion-dollar enterprise, but that didn't come without controversy. In 1963, Hefner was arrested for selling obscene literature after an issue of the magazine featured nude pictures of actress Jayne Mansfield. He stood trial but the jury failed to reach a verdict, and the charge was dropped.

Over the years scores of celebrities graced the magazine's covers, including Drew Barrymore, Lindsay Lohan, Pamela Anderson, Farrah Fawcett, Madonna, Sharon Stone, Kim Kardashian and Kim Basinger.
In October 2015, Playboy underwent a radical change deciding, as part of a redesign to stop using photos of fully nude women. The March 2016 issue featured bikini-clad model on the cover, marking the first time Playboy has presented itself as a non-nude magazine.

Hefner was thrice-married. Most recently he wed in 2012 at age 86 to Playboy playmate Crystal Harris, 60 years his junior. In August it was reported the iconic Playboy Mansion, notorious for its wild parties and infamous grotto, sold for a reported $105 million.
