Actress Allison Mack pleaded guilty Monday to charges she was involved in a scheme to turn women into sex slaves for the spiritual leader of a cult-like upstate New York group, a development that came on the same day jury selection began for a federal trial in the case.

Mack, 36, wept as she admitted her crimes and apologized to the women who prosecutors say were exploited by Keith Raniere and the purported self-help group called NXIVM.


The actress is to be sentenced Sept. 11 on two racketeering counts that each carry maximum terms of 20 years in prison. However, it’s likely she would face far less time under sentencing guidelines.

Joyce McKinney was a former Miss Wyoming and involved in a scandal in England, involving a young Mormon missionary that she had become infatuated with. It's alleged that she lured him to a remote house in Devon where she raped him repeatedly over a 3 day period.She claimed consent was mutual. He claimed he was kidnapped. Lori Loughlin is an American actress and producer, best known for her role as Rebecca Donaldson-Katsopolis in the TV series Full House and its Netflix sequel, Fuller House.

On March 12, 2019, Loughlin and her husband were charged along with 50 other individuals (among them, actress Felicity Huffman) for fraud and bribery-related offenses in a nationwide college entrance exam cheating scandal that erupted in the US. The indictment against the couple alleged that, disguised as a donation, they had paid $500,000 to the Key Worldwide Foundation so that the admissions committee of University of Southern California (USC) would believe their two daughters would join the women's rowing team, although neither had trained in the sport of rowing nor had plans in doing so.

On March 13, 2019, the Hallmark Channel cut ties with Loughlin and edited out her scenes from season 6 of When Calls the Heart. On March 16, Netflix fired her from Fuller House, and technology firm Hewlett-Packard announced it had removed Loughlin and her daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli from its advertising.

Loughlin and Giannulli rejected a plea deal which had included an additional charge of money laundering, requiring both to spend two years in prison. On April 15, 2019, she pleaded not guilty in a court appearance.

On October 22, 2019, federal prosecutors said Loughlin is facing additional charges in the college admissions cheating scandal. US Attorney Andrew Lelling said Loughlin was now being charged with conspiring "to commit federal program bribery by bribing employees of the University of Southern California (USC) to facilitate their children’s admission". In exchange for the bribes, employees of the university allegedly designated the defendants’ children as athletic recruits - with little or no regard for their athletic abilities - or as members of other favored admissions categories.

On May 22, 2020, Loughlin pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, and her husband pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and honest services wire and mail fraud. On August 21, 2020, Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison while her husband was sentenced to five months.

Update 2:

Allison Mack, former "Smallville" actress and high-ranking member of the cultlike group Nxivm, was sentenced to 3 years in prison Wednesday. Mack is required to have 3 years of supervised release after serving her prison term and has to pay a $20,000 fine.
