Tough choice actually but as much as it would surprise some people around here, I'll go with the remake. I think it's one of the best horror movie remakes ever done. Savini knows how to handle his camera, the script sticks to the original until the last 15mn, Tony Todd, Patricia Tallman, Tom Towles and the ensemble cast do a terrific job, the make-up are awesome...what makes me prefer the remake instead or Romero's seminal masterpiece? Savini's version is better paced. It lacks the all political involvement of 1968 but it's a great serious horror film.
