The Tourist. Not impressed. Slack pacing, lazy direction and a twist as obvious as an England batting collapse. Still, Angelina Jolie makes any film worth watching even if she does sleepwalk through the acting....

"Ludwig" 1972 Dir: Luchino Visconti

The tragic life and death of Ludwig II of Bavaria
Running for over 4 hours in the version I watched, Visconti’s Ludwig is a challenging film not intended for impatient people with short attention spans. The film offers a fascinating study of an unusual historical figure who’s main strength was in his ability to avoid the world in grand fashion. Visconti’s obsessive attention to detail and melodramatic operatic flair works well for the story of Ludwig. This may not be Visconti’s best film but regardless, it is a serious and complex work that deserves to be appreciated, slow at times but fascinating nonetheless.

Watching another classic and so another keeper .

Right now Revok is proposing to his very wimpy brother that they join forces and create an unbeatable Scanner army to take over the world.

No guessing needed as to what my reply would have been

One of my all time favourites.

Here is the scene in question, if you've not seen the film I'd recommend watching the whole thing instead as it is a classic. If you have an aversion to gore you're probably best avoiding as well....for everyone else enjoy!

No Country For Old Men, a film by the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan. And stars one of my favorite actors, Tommy Lee Jones

Default Carrie

Remember watching it in the cinema, the shower scene, the prom, and just as we were getting up from our seats, that final scene.

Still makes me jump.

Some really great movies here. Ludwig, Scanners, Dead Ringers... I'm impressed. Luchino Visconti and David Cronenberg are very appreciated. Well, a few days ago, they played Lethal Weapon on TV but I didn't bother watching it again. However, I tried to remember a parody of this movie and Emilio Estevez came to my mind. I'm talking about Loaded Weapon and watched it again for the first time after probably 15 years. Sorry but it blows. What was I thinking....
