5 votes so far, and nil points for the UK.
Even Malta has screwed us over.

We have one point, and are stone last.
Edit #1 ~ Estonia just gave us 5 points. But we are still stone last. Edit #2 ~ Latvia gave us 2 points, we are ahead of Norway. Edit #3 ~ The Irish gave us 4 points, so we finish second last. {Norway propped up the table, whilst the Swedes ran away with it)

The show is the height of kitsch, many years ago it stopped being about music and turned into a European allies mutual masturbation night.
The UK should give up on all the daft planning and trying to win this and just go along for a laugh; we should put on the British equivalent of Lordi or some death metal group. |

No, its the winning.
Choirs of angels could be the backing vocals and the Archangel Gabriel himself could sing lead and we still wouldn't win a dog-biscuit. Not, of course, that our entry is in that bracket. Hoepfully Jedward won't do well; they are there mainly to make us realise how much artistic merit there used to be in Stock Aitkin Waterman.

I didn't watch it, but caught the end of the voting. Looked like a landslide, but that's hardly a surprise as the winning song has already been a chart hit in a number of countries round Europe!
I notice that before we had a final performance of the winning song, there was an on-screen message warning of flashing lights and strobe effects. Was there a similar message prior to the Jedward song? ... "Warning! Tossers on the screen!" |
