Wink

If is wasn't for kangaroos , dingoes, quokkas, and all the other strange Australian wildlife, and the outback your continent would get no tourists, especially American tourists who love to spend money. People the world over might say: "Why don't we go to Australia for our vacation", Nah there is nothing over there, just the same old stuff you can see anywhere else, so you see quokkas have great value. You can make fun of them and dismiss them, but they help to stimulate the Australian tourist industry which brings in millions of dollars.
Many nations depend on tourist dollars. Even the U.S. which is rich enough already depends on the millions of tourists that come to our great cities.

Tourism in Oz (2014-15) is ~3% of GDP.
In the US (2015) I think it's ~8% of GDP? #1, #2.

I think Australia has much more to offer than quokkas, kangaroos, inland taipans, the Sydney funnel-web spider and other such inhabitants of the exotic world known as Australia. Beautiful cities like Melbourne and Sydney are worth a visit alone. My father wanted to emigrate to Australia and he either knew what he was doing or he was totally crazy. It was all set in the Australian embassy but my mother didn't want to go. Had he succeeded, I'd be sitting in Melbourne now, peeling an apple with my knoife or something like that.
