Your "so-called" enemy was at home and never tried to invade Jane Fonda's country. Isn't it?

One more time I'll apply a basic analogy.

What about if I went into your house because after several years when your stepfather abused of you, one day you decided to rebel yourself. Observing that he has no more the avantage over you, your stepfather called me for help.
So I illegitimately molest you, when suddenly my wife comes into your house, put her arms around your body and tells me: "Stop to hurt Rogerbh. He never tried to hurt you!", instead to stay on the porch of my home shouting: "Stop to hurt Rogerbh."

That has not the same impact. Isn't it?

Let's say the US Army is fighting in Iraq - for any reason. My opposition to a continued military presence in Iraq has been stated before. A US citizen goes to Iraq to give aid and comfort to the people my army is fighting.

I hope the US Army kills that US citizen. Then I would continue to argue that the US Army should come back home.

Fuck Jane Fonda.

IMO you put your nation above humanity.

What if this US citizen is your daughter (or your mother), would you still hope that the US Army has to kill her?

I wouldn't hope they would kill her if I was related to her, but I would understand if they did. Aid and Comfort in that foreign country - is a treasonous act - to me.

Expect revenge and copycat attacks. Will be interesting to see if four or more people were involved as initial reports are usually wrong. Nutters usually are sole perpetrators. (I assume this guy will be found to have a history of mental problems)

Sorry to hear that this happened in your country Dr Pepper.
So are we! The effects will be far reaching-and no doubt the flow on effects in terms of intelligence failures, surveillance, firearm restrictions etc. At this stage it appears that the offenders flew under the radar in both Australia and NZ-ie had no 'previous' that would have alerted authorities that they posed a security threat. We may be looking at a one off-or a cellular organisation a la Al Qeada or the IRA in terms of operating model....

Well one thing the New Zealand shooting did was push the Brazilian school shooting off the front pages.

Sad to see nutters are a world wide problem.

There was a shooting in Brazilian school?

You wouldn't think it as far as Brit tv news goes. The only think the world thinks about is ruddy Brexit according to them.

10 dead total, including the 2 shooters - who off'd themselves when they heard police approaching.

So, Trump goes to Helsinki, and in a joint press conference with Putin, throws the FBI and the CIA under the bus saying there's no evidence of Russian meddling in the last election.

Is this the same thing?

And this nutter is an Australian import-we have not been told the nationality of the other three arrested-and only one is being charged with murder this morning-the others no doubt will face conspiracy to commit murder charges, and various accessory to murder charges.

It is very early days yet-but it seems that yesterday was planned to be phase 1 of a multi location strike-the town of Ashburton (about an hour south of Christchurch) mosque is also being mentioned as a planned target, and there were two separate armed police raids in Dunedin that are believed to be linked to the Christchurch incident. It would also seem-though other than an initial mention I have not seen anything further-that the perpetrator was planning to conduct this operation in another country, and saw NZ simply as a safe haven to conduct planning-but was unable to resist what he saw as an opportunity...

About the only positive aspect to this tragic event is that most of the wounded will probably survive-Christchurch hospital is literally just across Hagley Park from the mosque-about 500m away-but more pertinent-Christchurch has plenty of experience dealing with mass casualty events after the 2011 earthquake-and many of the medical teams dealing with the casualties of yesterdays event will be the same people who coped so magnificently back then....

Even so, 20 of the wounded were listed as 'critical' so I would expect the final death toll to go over 50 (currently it stands at 49 dead) as one or two more are likely to succumb to their wounds, even with the best medical trauma surgery we can give them.
