In that previous post I wrote the name of a magazine that was was automatically censored, probably for copyright purposes. So when you see ******* it is in reference to a magazine with a title that starts with P. It started in the 1950s , popularized the centerfold, featured nude pictures of Marylin Monroe, and was started by a guy with a pipe and a bathrobe whose initials were H.H.

Its pretty strange that we can post pictures of people fucking in any way imaginable but we can't mention the name of one of the world's most popular magazines. These are strange times we're living in.

Hey ripchord

I like what you have to say. I think the ideas you are expressing about modern day porn can be applied to a lot of aspects of entertainment these days like movies, music, television, books, fast food restaurants etc and not just porn. I think there is too much emphasis on making money and not enough emphasis on making quality. There are too many billionaires scheming up ways to make themselves richer and its average guys like us who pay the price. I don't have a problem with people who make money but if it means we have to live in a society full of robotic, unemotional people then I'd say we need to rethink what our values are.

Personally I would hope there is not a swing back to previous fashions but instead a new wave comes through. I don't see the point of reinventing the wheel; too many times it just becomes a pastiche and turns into either a second-rate tribute or a rather sad ironic statement, and that just means your money's being wasted guys. I just hope the on-screen treament of women improves, as I find the trend of showing women gagging while giving head or pointless verbal abuse directed at them for example to be pretty sick. It's a blatent and really crude expression of male domination and just looks pathetic.

My current girlfriend likes porn - not just the soft-focus wishy washy stuff but more hardcore as well - but she gets visibly angry at degrading flicks like these and I really don't blame her. She also made a good comment about this style too, around how she often encourages her friends to look at porn but they bring up this kind of stuff and say how they found it off-putting, and that she feels stupid or even seedy suggesting it in the first place.

I agree slightly with Slimp. I don't mind some of the PRP stuff like Escort and Razzle but some of the more 'upmarket' stuff now is horrendously Photoshopped. This can be plainly seen on the pics they don't use in the X-Tras section of each mag on the PRP website.

Oh and I'm not a great fan of shaved (or those with landing strips) women, which unfortunately for me accounts for most of the top shelf stuff now.

quite interesting the attitude a couple of you have mentioned to shaving on this thread.
there seems to be three different eras of vintage porn (top shelf in england not harcore i am talking about) 1970s-1985, 1985-1991, post 1991

1985-1991 (maybe even back to 1983) is by jobby dealers statment the most popular era. also searching vintage magazines shops it is far harder to find mags from this era. that is my era of interest. at that time shaving muffs was extremely popular shaving ravers, whitehouse and parade etc.. all used to have regular shaving sections. i rememeber at the time the daily mail printed a 2 page article on how porno mags were using shaving to entertain weirdos. in that they had a list of all the mags on sale that month and a guide to the photosets. ie lingery. shaving 2 girls set.. i was 14-15 at the time and found this to be a great checklist for the month. it had a photo of the cover of white house, which i tihnk might have been amanda forbes but i remember reading the paaper away from mum and dad thinking got got need.. ala football sticker collections.

so shaving is not that new and certainyly was around when top shelf mags were at their pinnacle in the mid to late 1980s.

as for top shelf nowdays not doing it. maybe its because we can buy hardcore form the newsagent. desensitised to a sniif of quim or open snatch but at the same time looking at a 20 year old copy of whitehouse can turn us immediatly. this is down to what is known as a trigger reaction in the subconscious. just the same as when you hear a song from years ago and it takes you back, it has triggered the memory and from that memory the feelings are revivified. (by the way i am a therapist and do offer fetish therapy ) the revivification of feelings from adolescence are potentially more powerful than the stimulus provided by creating new feelings of arousal for images that are new. so looking at a pic of steph bews from 1988 is going to recall that intense feeling from the past and the expectation of finding new images of her (or who ever, andrea clarke, mel penny etc..) touches on the deeper part of the sexual identity that stems from the formative years of sexual awareness . it is less to do with getting old and more to do with the stimulus of your formative years.

In this thread someone says about seeing jo guest adele stephens newer pics ( and not to forget donna ambrose) that stems from the same trigger. the one that was set 20 years ago. having a wank over their pics multiple times. with no previous reference ( i am talking the ages 0-14 or whatever) makes you brain think that the two go together and makes the association stronger than it would with attenuation (attenuation is when you become accustom to doing something, wearing a watch for example you cant feel it when you waer it after a couple of months and still feel it when you are not wearing it) sp those images from the first couple of years of looking at porn will resonate stronger with your primal self.

this does not even have to be specific images. it can be thing out of your conscious awarenss. the quality of photos or paper the mag is made of. the smell of the print. the adverts in those specific magazines. the make up, hairdo or multi coloured stocking the girls used to have. the actual features on her face (eyes, nose, even if you prefered to look south) could even be the clothes you were wearing at the time yourself. any of these things can set the trigger off and align to your own primal sexual references. in other words you are more like to get turned on easier by the material you did when you were first wanking than by later stuff.

Guys, cast your minds forward 30 years in time. It is 2037 and this is the latest post on V.E.F.* :

'Can someone please post pics of a blonde who appeared in Knave sometime around 2007. Her name was something like Annshvelka and she was from Slovakia or maybe it was Hungary. Although quite skinny she had really great implants, a tattoo of a big scorpion on her shoulder and a tattoo of a dolphin on her arse. Please help as I am absolutely desperate to see pics of her again'

No, I can't really imagine it either!

Annshvelka was Polish, she came to England looking for work and was tricked into the porn business.....I remember it well

In 2030 we have pleasure robots that come in a verity of styles of which the most popular is the retro classic design of 1970's, the deluxe edition comes with real hair! They did make a 1997 model but it was withdrawn due to poor sales.

guess i'm younger than most here but the golden era for me was 88-96 where just about all the women in the mags & movies were gorgeous. Now as everyone says they are more generic, probably because theyre expected to be a lot nastier now than before, where just getting nekkid was enough. & for the few that are really hot we get beaten over the head with a million pics of them (veronika zemanova, erica campbell, zdenka come to mind) so they do lose some appeal.

As for the flix i kinda miss the ones that had a sense of humor & were parodies of real flix, wet dream on elm st & whatnot, instead of current titles which are rather repulsive.... cumfart cocktails??? i dont even know what that means but i dont really want to find out lol

The new magazines/models don't appeal. The couples stuff is particularly sterile and cold looking. Can't really comment on the "films" as I haven't watched any (new) pornos since the mid-90's, but the (fake) pro-am and bukkake stuff is too far off the chart for me....
