IHG has changed their domain from a .com to a .eu and you need to make an edit to keep up to date.

From the IHG Forum:

Change your host file setting to imagehost-grabber.eu (from host file editor) from http://imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml to http://imagehost-grabber.eu/hostf.xml to ensure you keep up to date after the big change. (The old URL will work until about June.)

EDIT: Just changed mine, and got an update for the host file the first time I used it today. I hadn't seen one prior to that in a few weeks.
Funnily my Grabber wasn't affected until yesterday. After it died I installed it again from the Mozilla site and made the necessary adjustments. However the 'select images' function has disappeared, which is very annoying.

I also consulted this from the dl-site:

Excellent add-on that has recently hit a couple of speed-bumps... two things have happened.

1) The Host File Server has changed from: http://imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml to: http://imagehost-grabber.eu/hostf.xml
2) With the automatic signing of AMO hosted add-ons (the .1-signed thing) the add-on was, in effect, reset to some really old version of hostf.xml

So, defunct Host File Server address and an old hostf.xml file. The solution is to manually change the Host File Server to the newer address. Under the ImageHost Grabber menu pick: 'Host File Editor' and click the: 'Modify hostf servers' button.

Use: 'Add Host File Server' to add: http://imagehost-grabber.eu/hostf.xml
Use: 'Delete Host File Server' to remove: http://imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml
Click: 'Update File' to confirm the changes.
Exit the Host File Servers panel.
Finally, click: 'Update from online Host File' to get the latest hostf.xml file.

There is some discussion here: http://imagehost-grabber.eu/index.php?topic=3217.0

Doesn't help. It's either all or nothing in the IHG-Menu.

Any Idea how to bring back the selected-images-only download function?

You can (or should be able to) access the "Selected Images Only" option with the keyboard shortcut Shift-PageUp.

< Good thinking, but didn't help. My IHG just remained stubborn until I found this:

http://imagehost-grabber.eu/index.php?topic=3203.0

The 1.7.0 version downloadable there brought back the 'selected only' feature instantly

Image Host Grabber may be disappearing from Firefox on November 3:

Quote:
Google requires Chrome extensions to be signed and installed via the Chrome store. Microsoft will do the same for Edge; its extensions will be digitally signed and distributed through the Windows store. Mozilla has similar plans for its new extensions. They will have to be digitally signed by Mozilla, and will generally be distributed through addons.mozilla.org. This digital signature mandate is also being implemented for current add-ons; after the November 3rd Firefox release (version 42), these will no longer work if they do not have a digital signature. Between now and then, unsigned extensions will be disabled by default, with an option to enable them.

Looking in my add-ons manager I see IHG falling under the category of being allowed...for now.

it's not just Imagehost Grabber being affected, if Firefox will go this way you can scrap any XUL-based add-on like Noscript, Greasemonkey or Downthemall as well when you'll use the upcoming Firefox Version 42 and higher.

to be on the safe side i recommend to keep a copy of the installation file for the actual Firefox version and install it / use it only inside a secure environment like Sandboxie. this way you may have a browser which gets insecure over the time but running it inside Sandboxie saves your OS/system/harddrive from any harm - and you can still use the old addons..

and inside your main OS, go on with newer Firefox versions.

Does anyone know of an image downloader that will work with image hosts and allow you to create a selection rectangle over images you want saved?

Default latest Firefox and Imagehost Grabber | How to...

Right now Imagehost Grabber is still working fine, even in Firefox latest Nightly build 44.0a1 (at least version 1.6.6 does)

I'm using the latest version from http://imagehost-grabber.eu/imagegrabber-1.6.6.20140620.xpi

Important for the plugin to work again is to go to "about:config" first and search for xpinstall.signatures.required and then set it to "false" (simply doubleclick on the value 'true')

You probably also want to change the hosts server to it's new domain.

To get there, open the Host File Editor (rightclick in a thread, choose "Imagehost Grabber" and then "Host File Editor". Towards the bottom right there is a button labelled "Modify hostf servers". Click on that. This opens a box labelled - wait for it - "Host File Servers". Click on Add Host File Server. Paste "http://imagehost-grabber.org/hostf.xml" Click OK and you're done.

Regards,

J4ZZ

Big Grin An email from our friends at the IHG Forum

Just received, and wanted to share with my VEF bros.

All ImageHost Grabber Forum members,

Please be advised that we have moved the forum to a new URL: http://imagehost-grabber.org ... Previous URLs are obsolete. The new forum URL is the only place where you can get the latest IHG versions and host file updates. We urge you to change your bookmark and visit our new forum location.

You must either set your host file server to http://imagehost-grabber.org/hostf.xml or download and install the latest version IHG 1.7.0.3 available here: http://imagehost-grabber.org/index.php?topic=3457.0

Note that if you are using an IHG version earlier than 1.7.0.3 or the version available from the Firefox add-ons site you are not getting host file updates including new host file solutions. The 1.6 series is also incompatible with some new host file solutions, so you won't be getting the best performance or all the image host sites unless you update to the latest release.

Please visit our forum for the latest updates, and if you are unable to login use the "lost password" function to recover your password.

This is a one time notification. You will receive no further notifications from the IHG Forum. We have moved and we don't want to leave you behind!

Regards,
The ImageHost Grabber Forum Team.

Methinks there might be some confusion with this one, so here's a quick, easy way to get you're shit squared away. I've already received an update using this method.

Just right click like you normally would, go to IHG.....host file editor....in the lower right, click on modify hostf servers....click add host file server, and paste http://imagehost-grabber.org/hostf.xml in. Delete the existing one, and you should be in business.

Recently I had problems to download pics from someimage server using IHG, so looking around I've found this thread at IHG forum which solved the issue.

Here's the thread's URL:
