When I used to get nuisance calls, especially from the nice Indian Microsoft technicians, I used to say 'You need to talk to the person who owns the computer, the number is 020 7230 1212.' It is the Metropolitan Police main administrative number! Wonder if any6 ever called?

My trick for frustrating telemarketing callers and it works is that my phone has a message answering service. When I get a call I pick up the handset and let it ring. On the fourth ring the generic message comes on saying that I am not home and please leave a message. Phone telemarketers never leave messages. If a real person I know starts to leave a message I answer it. When I first started to do this I still got almost ten calls/day, but now I only get a few calls per week. Obviously the telemarketers are frustrated that they can never reach me and only get the message, and I never miss a real call from a friend or someone else.

Ways I have used to frustrate nuisance calls....

1. When the caller asks to speak to me (or whoever) I be polite and say... "hold the line I'll go get him". Put the phone down, walk off into the kitchen and have a brew..
Only once did the caller hang on - and that was for ten minutes!

2. Reply with "I'm so glad you called... Have I told you I've found Jesus?"

I was once called, early evening by a bouncy-sounding woman with an American accent...

"Hi, and how are you today..?" she sang.

"I've got Diarrhea....."

I ususally don't answer my phone when it shows an unknown number but when I am feeling jovial I have been known to answer and ask (man or woman) do you swallow or spit? Never gotten an answer and for some reason they never call back.

Persons at the gym who are constantly on their phone telling the world that "I am at the gym".

Saw one lady taking a selfie whilst on the bike. If she was on it for more than two minutes that would be an exaggeration.
