I have actually not seen a porn film for months and don't miss them. I used to enjoy them and I remember seeing some very enjoyable material back in the early 1990s: Rachel Ryan, Ashlyn Gere, Raquel Darian in her earliest movies. Raquel was the beauty of the world but actually Rachel Ryan and Ashlyn Gere were much better performers. But in these films sex was a game for two (or three or four): it was fun for all players and that was the whole point of the movie. But gradually I began to lose interest because always it was the same old same old. I wonder if this is what has impelled the industry down the soulless hardcore path.

Most of the more recent stuff leaves me absolutely cold. Anonymous men and women behaving like automatons, and a really unpleasant undertone of (if not express) misogyny which makes me want to seriously hurt the male performer, if not convert him into a large packet of sausages.

My tastes run much more to softcore photographic work featuring beautiful women who are relaxed and happy to pose. They project a subliminal message : ''scoundrel, step through this camera lens and come into my arms..''. The more h/c stuff projects a different message: ''scoundrel, come back later. I'm busy with this bloke just now and he's much better endowed that you are...''.

I don't mind seeing a bit of Peter North (lucky b*st*rd!), but I've hardly seen any modern American porn. And from what I pick up from other posters' comments, I don't think I'm missing much. However, I can't help feeling a pang of guilt for these young women getting into the Porn industry, if they think that all the male punters that view their work, really want to see what they are being put through. They really are getting the sh*tty end of the stick in all ways. (Yeah, yeah, I know what's coming!).

Seriously i think you're overexposed and thus desensitized with it all. If you have a break from porn/sex/masturbation for a few days/weeks then when you come back to it - it'll be good again. Anyone agree with that advice?

I don't think abstinence really applies in this situation. If you stay away from crap and come back a while later, it's still crap :-)

And I agree with most people on this thread, I think at some point someone just took fun out of porn. I guess that's what drove me to watch and download older movies from the 70's and 80's (and I guess the 90's as well) where people at least looked like they were having fun (and looked more natural as well) while doing each other in front of the camera. For example I just can't stand this modern trend of throat fucking, abusing the girls until they gag, cry and puke. Where's the fun in that?

I agree with most of the above opinions. It's not that we're bored with porn, it's just that today's porn is so lousy. That's one of the reasons this is such a great forum. Like-minded people can hook up and remind each other of all the great vintage porn that's out there. Thanks to you people, I've been reminded of a lot of great porn stars that I'd forgotten about.

Its the same positions, over and again and it all seems to be anal now. In fact i go as far as to say i think that its more anal now than normal vaginal sex. I'm not a big fan of anal IMHO and (to pardon the pun) its shoved down out throats.

One of the problems is the law of diminishing returns. You get used to a certain type of film and no matter how much they try to jazz it up, it does not work. Take a non-porn example of Star Wars. The last three had huge effects budgets thrown at them, but were pale imitations of the originals.

At least with a regular film they can come up with new characters and storylines. With porn, all the viewer want to see is people getting on with it. But once that gets familiar what can the film makers do? It appears their ideas of more intensity are turning everyone off.

Pah, I blame the interweb. And today's appetites for instant satisfaction. No subtlety, just give the punters what they think they link. And when they tire, more, more, more.

I ache for days days of Electric Blue videos - porn, but not too much. This is my first post post so I want to say thank you to the Mods and all contributors to this amazingly comprehensive, intelligent and thriving forum.
The knowledge of you good folk and willingness to share your treasures really must be applauded.

I agree with most of what`s been said here and there are many reasons why I
probably feel this way.
30 years ago you had to put in a real effort to find what you wanted.
The road was littered with rip-offs and disappointments and you valued
anything that came near to what you were looking for.

With the internet I found I was like a kid in a sweet factory. All tastes and
kinks can be found but in the end they all seem to be done to a formula.
I guess they stick to what sells best till saturation point and there are a limited number of things you can do with human bodies.

My liking for vintage is a mix of nostalgia and rediscovering that they were
a lot more imaginative and spent more time and money in making the stuff.
Getting older is a factor, with newer, as I think we all get a bit `seen it done it`and we probably have.

There is still good erotic stuff being produced in the mainstream. Lady Sonia
is a good example, but it all comes down to `horses for courses`.
So, once again, it takes me some effort to find what I want.
