It's snowing like crazy again, but if I've bought something decent for once in my life, (unlike most of the crap I've bought) it's the log-burning stove I bought about 10 years ago.
We've just got back from the pub and it's there...glowing. Nice warm house and if you load it up before you go to bed, it's still glowing in the morning.

In this area we have one shop. They cannot get supplies. Plenty milk and bread but no essentials like decent booze. I had to buy cider and cava tonight. No whisky or vodka.

Seems like Global Warming, sorry freezing strikes again.

Couldn't get to work today,buses weren't running.Of course they don't tell you that on the TV,I had to wait about three quarters of an hour at an icy bus-stop before someone told me.Also the local taxi companies were charging triple rates and that with an hour and a half wait.It wasn't a problem however as the Boss sent those who had got in home anyway.

Hello again-welcome to Winter 2010-Unlike many here I am enjoying this snow whether out in it or not, you'll soon regret it when it all disappears thanks to global warming-I love it, walking in it and throwing snowballs-its one of the very few things/pleasures left to older people without looking complete fools in front of their kids or others. If its bad out, don't go out, simple as that-those people that venture out are asking for trouble because they never heed the warnings. I went shopping this morning as my parents wanted a duvet morning

lucky for them I like the snow. Its the best snow I've ever seen since 1991. Stay warm and dry my friends.

Doesn't it pee you off though the way Britain grinds to a halt when the first show of snow appears. I know there are parts of the country experiencing extremes by our standards, but what we are seeing is what Central and Eastern Europe take as normal at this time of year, and just get on with it. We just can not cope with snow and the government have done little or nothing to improve matters.

I can remember 30 years ago, commuting 50 miles to work in London by train, and the problems caused by weather. However, at that time British Rail used to run de-icer trains all night to make sure they could run as near to a normal service as possible next day. Now, as has been stated on the News broadcasts, the rail operators are going by the weather forecast
rather than the actual weather to decide in advance what level of service to run. When you look at the advances made in technology over the past 30 years, how is it our transport systems have gone backwards ???

I went to school in the sixties and seventies, and although I can remember lots of snow in winter, none of the schools I attended were ever closed due to bad weather. I conducted a poll in the office today, and nobody over the age of forty ever had their school closed due to snow.

I guess we must have the wrong sort of snow these days!

I agree ... and I gather that many of those that are closing are making their decisions 24 hours in advance.

It's no wonder the kids are growing up so mamby - pamby these days.
