How not to mention Rock'n roll Rocco (1 and 2)?
Elio e le Storie Tese (the original italian title is Rocco e le Storie Tese) is a big italian group, every member is a magister with his instrument and the spirit of their composition is very close to Frank Zappa's eclecticism. Roger T. Pipe, who made this review http://www.rogreviews.com/reviews/re...ew.asp?sku=382 didn't understand anything about the group, maybe for an anglosaxon-centrism in his music preferences and for the difficulty to grasp the verbal and musical irony in their songs, that are intended to be together good music and grotesquely, screwbally comic gags; also the music is humoristic, based on the hypertypical burlesque of the musical genres. Nevertheless, the application of their music to the movie has been unsatisfying, not for the music itself, but for its use in the film-structure: the film was presented as a porn musical (that should entail, if not the presence of singed dialogues, at least the involvement, somehow, of the songs in the plot development), whereas the songs are exteriorly and superficially glued just as separators (more than connectors) between the porn scenes: only the first one is connected to the music, even if not with its semantic side, but just with its diegetic side (Anita Blonde and Anita Dark fuck with Rocco in the toilet of the stadium where the group is playing its concert). |

That is a great song it was also used in Taboo 4 as well. Now as a lad whose greatest passion in life is the Golden Age Of Porn (1970 - 1985) I truly love the music it represents the era. Neon Nights -The behind the scenes Cecil Howard tells how he hired a professional singer for for the music that was played in the film he wouldn't reveal who it was promising to keep their identity a secret. Firestorm - Arguably the greatest song ever in a X - Rated Movie a song written by D'Arcy Brook called Coming Back To Me. Babylon Pink - Cecil Howard reveals in the behind the scenes paying a large sum of money for the Chamber Brothers song Time. Her Name Was Lisa - I still would like to know how they got away with playing Dazed and Confused a song by Led Zeppelin. The Open Misty Beethoven,Barbara Broadcast & Take Off had music from a known rock group Elephants Memory. New Wave Hooks - Music by the Plugz who also had a song in the film Repo Man. Night Dream - music with Wall Of Voodoo. |

this is an interessting thread, because in the last months i have noticed some good music in porno-flicks. I dont know their names but it was a scene with Erica Bella. She creeps through a floor (jazzy ambient sound squires the scene) and than she is getting jacked from behind and suddenly the music change. WHAT A BREAK! Real matching to the scene. And I think: this has some hollywood potential
Theres a Dru Berrymore softcore flick also, with some bomb ambient melodies. I`ve sampled this peace. But dont know the title no more. It was a softcore DVD that I had. I still have the music. Reeeeeal Good! Ps: I dont care about porno-soundtracks too, but sometimes I hear the best things coming from the porno-section!!!! |

I just thought of this thread because I was watching "Serena's Fantasies" and thought, "This is some of the worst music ever put into a porn film".
The music IS important. Unless you're watching with the sound off. Which is exactly what I'm doing now with "Serena's Fantasies". |

I wonder if they actually paid for the rights to use that music, or if they just hoped to fly under the radar and nobody would notice. |

The odds that they paid are extremely low. From the 70s until the early 80s, there was a LOT of stolen music. My favorite is probably a Godfather spoof from the early 70s that used the Godfather Theme over and over in every freaking scene, except for one violent scene during which it used the Psycho Theme!

Most of the films done by the Dark Brothers have good music. Sean Micheals also has good music, nothing cheese or corny (like those folks at Leisure Time).
But I would say as far as vintage music, I'd say the music that was in Behind the Green Door and Talk Dirty to Me, was pretty good and hot in that it was fairly original. I know there was a movie with Johnny Hartman playing. It was hella tight for it to be a porn movie. Last edited by Big Ty T; January 26th, 2011 at 08:19 PM.. |

I just watched part of the Lysa Thatcher movie "Peach Fuzz", and the lesbian scene with her and her sister had the Jean-Luc Ponty songs "The Art Of Happiness" and "Ethereal Mood", both from the album Cosmic Messenger. It kinda freaked me out, because "Ethereal Mood" is the first song on my go-to 'seduction' mixtape.
later on I heard a bit of "Miss You" by the Stones, but it didn't sound quite like the album version. I don't know for sure, I was skipping around by that point. Plus the whole thing did not seem professionally mixed. |
