I believe it's the way vB works and unless there are multiple complaints from different forums, I doubt it will get changed any time soon.

I also tried a search, this time for "Jessica Robbin"
Using the drop down I searched for "Jessica Robbin" and got this(2 Results):
Search: Keyword(s): Jessica, Robbin

Using Advanced menu I searched for "Jessica Robbin" and got this(176 Results):
Search: Keyword(s): Jessica OR Robbin

Using Advanced menu I searched for "Jessica AND Robbin" and got this(176 Results):
Search: Keyword(s): Jessica OR Robbin

That I not even can manually override the OR search is a real hassle and makes searching for the exact name almost impossible unless you let JavaScript run all th time to get to the drop down menu but even if that menu won't give you any options for searching.

Please try to fix that, forum without a proper functioning search is awful.
The forum search engine is an internal function of this version of VBulletin and part of the package programming that was done by the VB programmers.

We have no access to modify and improved the VB code so there is not much we can to fix it.

As I have stated numerous times, the search engine and options was totally rebuilt in VBulletin starting with V4 and above due to the fact that this one was so bad.

The only way we'll have an improvement here is if the forum is eventually upgraded to the newer version and that is a huge project due to the amount of custom plugins we have.

I'm not quite clear what you're asking for, but if it how to use AND in the Advanced search, the answer is put Jessica+Robbin into it.

I was asking to search for a phrase or at least both words of the name that I want to find.
Indeed + works in the advanced search but why not AND when the forum seems to use OR?
Would be helpful to list these little tips on the search page to fully use what the search engine can do.

That's out of our reach, but I did my best, here: http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...38#post2793538

That particular tutorial, as compared with the others here, is a confusing jumble (I'm as much to blame as the others who've contributed to it) and it really needs to be pulled down and built again, but I don't see how any ordinary member can do that.

Default Is Google Advanced search the way to go?

Forget pix, otherwise - though far from perfect - Google Advanced search gets best results for me. Never said it before because I thought it might be considered sacrilege. I rarely search for names, mainly mag and movie titles.

Posters worry about whether a pic in a new post has appeared before but in most cases it's near impossible to know / remember. Biggest frustration for me personally is that I'm always looking for new posts of vintage B & W pix and videos - also often known as Black and White. Of course, when I put in the latter I inevitably get interracial threads & posts.

A big problem is that "Vintage" can now apply to anything from the 19th Century to the 1990s. We had a debate years back on that subject and I suggested that Vintage apply only to the end of the 60s or maybe the mid-70s. After that it would become Retro because it was within the memory of many ppl still surfing today. [Added: pre 1910 should be termed Antique],

The younger set, up to 25 or so don't matter because few have any concept of the pre-internet days and are shocked and disgusted when they see pubic hair.
